  • Question for teenagers: What are the most difficult problems/challenges you face in your life right now?

I am directing a touring production of Romeo and Juliet for high schools and I really want to look at the issues that teenagers face today. What is on your mind? What do you worry about? What are your most difficult problems?Question for teenagers: What are the most difficult problems/challenges you face in your life right now?
Most difficult problem is that I really like this girl but our families hate each other and our relationship seems doomed. She is so depressed Im afraid she might do something drastic.

I have purchased many sleeping pills just in case.

Hope I never need to take the whole bottle at once.

What's the maximum sentance for shoplifting for teenagers?

Okay, so someone I now %26amp; his friend were busted for shoplifting. Now my brother hasn't been previously arrested for anything and only stole $6 worth. What's the max he can be sentenced for?

His friend hadn't previously been convicted for shoplifting but had been in trouble with the court before, for attendance (mostly due to his parents). How long can he be sentenced for?

Thanks! What's the maximum sentance for shoplifting for teenagers?
He will not serve prison time, it will get dismissed. I work in loss prevention and see this all the time. What's the maximum sentance for shoplifting for teenagers?

Depends on how much but I think it's juvenile or something like that.
    life, maybe the death sentence.

Why do teenagers think that adults know absolutely nothing about being a teen themselves?

And that they don't give today's teens ';enough credit';? Also they think that they are more mature as a whole than they really are, when the evidence is deadset against them. Granted there are teens who are more mature than most, but they are few and far between. Science has proven that the human brain does not fully mature until 25 so why try to prove otherwise when it clearly is not true? Why do teenagers think that adults know absolutely nothing about being a teen themselves?
Well, most parents don’t teach their children to respect their authority from an early age. I’m appalled at the disrespect that’s often allowed in preschoolers, grade-schoolers, etc. It’s not going to just go away.

Secondly, we have them spend the majority of their time hanging out with a bunch of people within a year of their age. This isn’t the case just in school, but in churches. Outside of school time, a lot of time is spent just being around people their own age either informally or in activities. We (meaning our culture as a whole) gear them toward being peer-focused.

Why do teenagers think that adults know absolutely nothing about being a teen themselves?
Some teen parents age gap is different from their child's, so their traditional values are not the same as this generation so most teens don't pay attention to it, because with some things they are not the same. But I think for a teen to mature they need to be able to make their own mistakes, and learn from them, but I do believe some teens are more mature then most people believe so it's based more on the child's values, and morals.
the way i feel about this questions is if you adults want to use the excuse that '; you were one teens too'; then why act so mean towards your kids you know what hurt you and how things were in school but yet you continue to acct like teens have no problems of their own honestly if you can truly say i been there done that then make it show much more adults know how it is when it comes to sex so why act so shocked when your kids are doing it its like the parents don't even try to talk to them about it and they have to learn on their own because the parents are scared and don't know how to bring it up and of course all of the ';adults are going to give me a thumbs down because they don't want to hear th truth but its ok I'm a parent myself so oh well felt good to get that out
The adults of today do not sit down and talk with their kids. I can't say I blame the adults completely. The hustle and bustle of the world today does not give people time to breathe let alone sit down and talk with their kids. Teenagers, at times, grow up on their own. They act as a sit in parent while their own work. The faster you are forced to grow up, the more you think you know.

I can say the same for some adults I know. It's not just the teenagers.

EDIT: The girl above me said basically what I was trying to say. I know parents who constantly begrade their children. We lose respect for people like that.
I think it's largely because teenagers don't like to hear the word ';no'; from their parents. Even when the parents explain why they aren't allowing them to do something that they want to do, they still like to think that it's something personal, and that if Mom and Dad knew what it was like to be their age, they wouldn't be so strict.
basically because they things that most teens do today in life they wasn't doing it....and if they were caught doing something that they had no business doing they would get in trouble by alot of people. but with teens like us in our life time we don't really get in trouble and some teens just say and do anything in front of grown-ups
Because when adults talk down to you like you're an idiot, you will act out and do what you feel is best. I'm glad my parents never treated me like a little kid, now I'm a responsible college kid. Maybe parents shouldn't talk down to their kids, share an experience from your childhood and what happened during it.
Because you don't give us a reason to believe that you DO remember what it's like.

Instead of giving us advice, you yell at us for things like having sex (sex talk time?), drinking (your job to tell us about the dangers), or smoking (your job).

Granted, those ARE things to be yelled at for, but why not give us advice instead?
I think it's because we (yeah, I'm 14) just have such a narrow mindset about what we think is acceptable and half the time we're wrong... and it doesn't help when news reports say that some adults are actually afraid of teenagers. It makes us think that they all are and that they don't understand us, so we can bully them.

    sadly, we're all wrong... hah.
    Hehehe....

Loved reading the answers, well worth the question just to see these answers.

The one boy who said teens are smarter, yet can't spell...

The one who claimed, ';modern times'; are different. Which of course they are not.

    fun question!
    Hormones and brain development. :P
Are you honestly asking this question to get an answer, to understand a teenager better, or just to complain?
because plenty of parents have lost touch with what it's like being a teenager. I think plenty of parents don't understand why we feel they way we do.
Because our parents were not born in this century. So they don't know what problems we have to deal with.
parents just don't know what its like being a teen TODAY. but its not like they were never teenagers.
We know that our parents use to be teenagers like us, it's that we just don't care.
we r and we r smarter if adult gave them credit they would be reling on that not drugs sex

most of the creams that are on the market don't work and when they do you have to continue to use them to see results. I rather use natural treatments that attack the source of the acne.
I use proactive everyday and it works fine for me. It takes a few days to get used to your skin, so you wont see results for about a week.

Are there any after school programs where teenagers can earn money and learn how to become an adult?

three major points of this question are,#1 earning money to lesson the impact of becoming 18 and moving out of the house, #2 learning about themselves and about becoming an adult, and #3 becoming someone possitive enough to impact their neighbors and community around them. Are there any after school programs where teenagers can earn money and learn how to become an adult?

What are some good teambuilding activities for teenagers?

I have a group of people that need to strengthen how they work together, how they communicate with each other and how to set an example for younger teenagers. Any suggestions? What are some good teambuilding activities for teenagers?
Yahoo or Google ';Team Building Activities'; and you will find hundreds of web pages with games to help out. If you can get a day away to a ropes course/adventure course with a certified leader they can lead games and activities for your group. Any games/activities that involve being blindfolded work really well. Check into the local YMCA or Boys and Girls clubs or recreation centers to see if anyone has a ropes course/adventure course nearby. I've used this for church groups, youth leadership teams, at risk youth, college groups, and in class during college!! Good luck with your team! Find a ropes course!! If not.. look up some of the games!

    Here's some ideas:

    A talent show.

    A car wash.

    Bake sales.

    Raffle.

A penny race. (That's when each participant sees who can collect the most pennies in a given period of time, week or month, and puts all together)

WalkathonWhat is a good funrasing idea for teenagers?
This does not answer your question - but you might go to www.ysa.org and sign up for their free email newsletter.

    YSA is Youth Service America

At times, they announce funding, up to $1,000 or more, for people to start civic organizations to work on the world's problems. And various corporations, use this newsletter to announce activities they will fund - and scholarships for youth active in civic issues.
    Bake Sale everyone loves cake

    sell candy bars

    t-shirts

    sell gift cards
    Sell Krispy Kreme Donuts!!!!!!
karaoke party teenagers like to sing
    Here are some ideas:

A car wash - Brings in a lot of people (especially the parents of the teens), charge about $3 per wash.

A talent show - Charge entry fee as about $5 and have them participate in different events. Get cheap medals and ribbons for the winners. WHy not make it a dinner show?

A bake sale - Bake family recipes and have all sorts of foods. Why not bring in realy fresh Krispy Kream Donuts?

Video-game off - This is a fun one for all those gamers. Get some fun multiplayer games and have players participate to get a trophy. Have entry fee about $4.

Auction - Have people donate stuff and then have people bid on them.

Spin the Prize Bottle - Like the classic spin the bottle. But with a twist! Make a game board so that when you spin, it can land on a money jackpot, which they can build up or take, or go bankrupt. Also, put in big and small prizes.

    Good luck!
Get them working for those in the community who need help with jobs around the house %26amp; are only too happy to pay.For example ..mowing , cleaning , running errands , etcSettle on an hourly rate %26amp; allocate people to a task depending on the size of it.Gives teenagers a sense of community purpose as well as bonding as a team. Link up with active community organisations eg Churches etc ..Good luck !
What about a concert? Kids love to attend them. Maybe you can get the performers for free or at cost plus 10%.

That should be fair, I think.
Car washes, bake sales, babysitting party.....
I would love to help you with a fundraiser. Visit my website at www.pamperedchef.biz/jacquiespamperedche鈥? 15% of sales goes to your organization - plus you don't have to worry about deliveries (depending on how the fundraiser is set up).
You could have a ';Bigger and Better'; event where you start of with something small and trade it with somebody for something better.

To do this you may be able to set up a stall at a local mall and advertise yourselves otherwise you could door knock but be sure to clearly explain what you are doing and why.

Then maybe you could sell the item you ended up with.

Based on your observations, what percentage of teenagers are liberal, and what percentage are conservative?

Also, if you want, list your state.

I live in one of the only mainly Conservative counties in Southern California, but it seems like many of the kids I go to school with are liberal. From my experiences, I'd say 60% liberal, 40% conservative.

I consider myself to be moderately Conservative, by the way.Based on your observations, what percentage of teenagers are liberal, and what percentage are conservative?
Where I live, 100% could give a sh*t. Southern ArizonaBased on your observations, what percentage of teenagers are liberal, and what percentage are conservative?
I live in California. I teach at the community college level but at outreach positions located at various high schools around the area. It depends on what neighborhood the high school is in and the wealth.

The school I am at now, the kids drive all new Porsche's, BMW's, brand new Mustangs, Mini Coopers and rather expensive cars. They are either rather conservative or non-political, with a few Progressive liberals (mostly girls) in the mix.

The school I worked at before was from a middle class working class neighborhood and they were all liberal. Many of their parents struggle to put food on the table and many of the students were on school lunch programs. They knew who to vote for because the GOP didn't speak for them, but for the rich 1%. These kids were smart.

BIG DAN: Funny but your tax rates are the lowest in 20 years. Did you tell your son that the richest 1% in our country pay far less of a tax rate than you or your son. I bet you didn't.
I found it interesting this summer in Northern Idaho. My 19 year old son, who after his first year in college was a self professing liberal, spent the summer working on construction projects, one a prevailing wage project where he was paid $25 per hour. He was so excited about how much money he would be making until he got his pay check. He called and told me ';something must be wrong, my check is way smaller than It should be';. I had to explain about income tax both state and fed. Of course he said ';What right does the government have to take so much money out of my check';. I told him that was why his mother and I are conservatives...the birth of a new conservative is a special thing.
Depends on where you are...here in Georgia there's nice mix, but you tend to see more Liberal teens in and around Atlanta and the farther out you go, the more Conservative teens you see. Where I go to school, it's probably about 50/50, subtract the good portion (myself included) who choose not to align with either party.
It is more 75% liberal and 25% conservatives and the conservative ones are mostly ones brought up in very religious homes. This is my observation and what the latest vote poll says.

Do you know MSNBC is the number one news source for people under 30. That is got to be hard to swallow as a republican. The young people dont want the right wingers telling them how to live.

    Good for them

    david
Judging by my kids and fellow other kids. I would say about 90% liberal and minuscule 10% conservative. I say this because they pretty damn well do as they please most of the time. It`s hell trying to get them to do the right stuff. Discipline gets a parent into deeper trouble than the kids. It`s a form of anarchy.
I guess it really depends on where you live.

I come from a small town in Virginia and this town is mostly conservative.

Most teens here are moderate to conservative and the few that are liberal usually move away anyhow.

So id say its a 75% Conservative 25% liberal.
Where I live, the teenagers are too damm retarded for their opinions to matter, however as long as they are of age they are allowed to vote, which in turn doesn't matter because the popular vote is as valuable as my feces.
    ';Any man who is under 30, and is not a liberal, has no heart; and any man who is over 30, and is not a conservative, has no brains.';

    Winston Churchill
I think our impressionable youth is told what to think in our schools. Therefore you see more liberals. Actually, they are too young and ignorant and lazy to know what is going on. I'm glad you are not in that category.
    ';moderately conservative';

Oh, so your a moderate republican, please don't use the word conservative because reaganomics was not developed during the american revolution.
According to leftist indoctrination, just look at the percentage of children in the public school system. That should answer it for you.
Defiantly a lot of Brainwashed teens out there. But the Hippies are finally dying off and reality is slowly settling back in.
My whole school/college experience tells me that kids of today are liberal progressive and very few claim to be conservative i guess its uncool and boring to be a con man
I'm a libertarian from Ohio so i guess that would make me moderately conservative and moderately liberal
Based on my observations... 98.5% of teenagers are politically ignorant and only spout what their parents say.
Teenagers don't care about Politics why should they the only time they even talk about it is when its forced on them by schools and they have grades to make MN
what percentage of teenagers tell the difference?

    about 10?
    Mmm Mmm Mmm
Oh, please -- teenager couldn't care less. How many couldn't find the US on a map?
LOL Majority of the kids here in so-cal are liberal.

It's all about me, me me, me and me. They want government hand outs. That's why they supported Obama in the primary when he said he wanted Universal health care.

I live 30 minutes south of down town LA in a suburb. So don't get me started.

I like David's statistics. People under 30 dominantly watch MSNBC.

That's funny because Fox news has more ratings then all the other networks combined as a total. I look at the big picture, not the small one. Hardy har har.
Sure they aren't Democrats? Thats what I need

    Mobile phone, atm card
Well I don't think there is an ER kit to keep people out of prison. If they are messing around with stuff that could get them locked up I suggest intervention, rehab, moving, ect.

My mom made sure when I went out, I had a cell phone, mace (which I never used), 10$, 5$, and some 1$ as well as about 2 $ in .25. Sometimes if I took a longer trip she owuld make sure I had an extra container of gas, and oil, and she made sure I knew how to change a tire ect on the car.

I don't think fourteen year old teenagers can legally work.

If your sixteen, then, you can get a job at a nursing homes or any where else.

But since I really don't know, why won't you go to a nursing home and ask if they hire fourteen year olds. Now that's an answer that's trueWill nursing homes let fourteen year old teenagers work there?
sorry but no and working on a nursing home is no place for a young girl- nursing home are real depressing places not becouse the older people are there to die is just becouse the sadnes of seeing the older people put there by their families so they dont have to put up with them

    Good Luck.
I know a girl who got a Hyundai Elantra at 16, and she loved it. It was a beautiful deep purple, almost a wine color, and it was a 4 door with airbags, so it was safer and cheaper to insure than a 2 door. It was nimble and fun to drive, but you could still get 5 people in it, if they were skinny. She was being foolish on Loop 1 in Austin, driving way too fast and screwing around with friends, and she ran off the road into an erosion barricade, at approximately 80 miles per hour, flipped the car and landed on the roof. The car was totaled but she walked away under her own power because the roof and her seatbelt held firm and the airbags deployed properly. Needless to say, I was impressed. I wouldn't hesitate to buy a Hyundai, because it has more options for the money than other makers and still gets good safety reviews and excellent fuel economy. You can't go wrong with a number of cars though. Hondas are nice, Toyotas of course, VW Beetle or Jetta are cool cars but still safe, Ford Focus, Chevy Cobalt. Stay away from 2 door cars because the insurance companies will label it a ';sports car'; whereas a 4 door is a ';sedan'; and stay away from SUVs or trucks because they have a high center of gravity and can rollover much more easily. Another good option is all wheel drive, because it gives you better control in adverse weather, it is more expensive to buy and insure though. All Subaru vehicles come with this option and more car makers are coming on board every year. I can't stress enough the need to test drive everything. The car may seem great, but until you drive it for awhile you have no way to know if you'll love it or hate it. I insist on test driving any vehicle I may want to buy, because I am 6 feet 4 inches tall and stocky, so comfort is a very important issue for me. You may put more emphasis on how easily you can reach the controls or how quiet the car rides, or how awesome the stereo is. What ever you are looking for, Good luck.
WELL EITHER THE HONDA ACCORD OR THE CIVIC.

  • Do Teenagers that start smoking cigarettes do so because cigarettes taste good or because it is forbidden?

I started when I was 11. I have no idea why I started; I wasn't depressed at the time. I think I gave into peer pressure but the challenge of getting a pack was always quite exciting, I often found myself wriggling with delight.Do Teenagers that start smoking cigarettes do so because cigarettes taste good or because it is forbidden?
Cigarettes don't actually taste good until you're addicted. When you first start, you do it to fit in or b/c your friends do it or to rebel against your parents.

I did it because I saw people around me smoking and thought it would be fun. I also started the very day I turned 18, so I guess it may have been a way for me to show that I was an adult.

I told myself that I would quit at the 2 year mark. So much for that. Almost 2 and a half years later, I am looking for ways to quit, but its just so darn hard!Do Teenagers that start smoking cigarettes do so because cigarettes taste good or because it is forbidden?
They certainly don't taste good! Kids usually first do it because they're curious, but there are all sorts of reasons. Anyway, once they get the hang of it, they find that nicotine is enjoyable and makes them calm and euphoric. Then, at some point, they may get hooked and be unable to stop.
I personally started at 14 because I was in that stage of rebellion. I continued to smoke right up until a little over a year ago. I am now 21 and only smoke when I drink every once in a while.
Everyone is different. I started because I loved the sensation of smoking, not just the taste.
    Because they are stupid.

  • How much effect do hormones have in teenagers?

    What are the effects?

Can they be felt and noticed ?

When do they stop? How much effect do hormones have in teenagers?
A lot, they cause many effects. The function of hormones is to serve as a signal to the target cells; the action of hormones is determined by the pattern of secretion and the signal transduction of the receiving tissue. Hormone effects vary widely, but can include stimulation or inhibition of growth, induction or suppression of apoptosis (programmed cell death), activation or inhibition of the immune system, regulating metabolism and preparation for a new activity (e.g., fighting, fleeing, mating) or phase of life (e.g., puberty, caring for offspring, menopause). In many cases, one hormone may regulate the production and release of other hormones. Many of the responses to hormone signals can be described as serving to regulate metabolic activity of an organ or tissue. Hormones also control the reproductive cycle of virtually all multicellular organisms.

Depending on whether you're male or female they stop at different times. In males, hormones usually stop around 21 or 22, and in females hormones usually stop anywhere from 17-19 or 20How much effect do hormones have in teenagers?
Oh yea. They're VERY affective, that's why they change from kids to teenagers. They can be felt. The raging hormones stop usually round 18 or 19, then you mature into an adult.
barley any its more of somthing we make up so we can be rude to our perrents

    none really

    no

    they dont really exist
well they cam always be felt and there will be just ared spot, and they just hurt for an hour or so.
enough to cause major damage if a adult is not there to take care of them
come on now...they affect every thing ....every thing in their lives, and yes it is noticeable

and for females it does slow down and but take on a different role as they get to young women, we all know that!

    and guys

some slow down and stop, and some never act like they have slowed down or stopped having hormone related problems, some never every...

    smile

    good luck
There are about 32 hormones operating your body functions just like oil and water in a car. If you change one you affect them all. Don't play with hormones. The few sex development hormones are doing their job too so you will become a reproducer . Relax the wheel is already invented do you want to reinvent the human body.
I am the mom of a 12 year old boy that is in the middle of puberty, and we (my husband and I) don't call them hormones we call them HORRORMONES! He's like a different child!

What are the effects? He used to be sweet and cooperative...now he's moody and fights everything we stand for.

Can they be felt and noticed ? I'm sure he feels them but we have sure noticed!

When do they stop? With any luck soon...before we all lose our sanity!
It is a total effect. Hormones effect every aspect of out lives for the rest of our lives. Each person react in a different way to the same hormone level...it depends on their character and coping mechanisms.
you name it, its an effect! im serious before you start rolling you eyes at me!

hair, erections, mood swings, voice changes.. ect all the normal stuff that im sure you have already noticed and yes you can feel most of them, but some you just wake up and they are their and you never noticed it:)

they never stop! they slow down but continue through life that eventually start to dwindle but never go away:)

    hope this helps:)
A LOT! I am soooooooo moody!!!
oooh yeah they can definately be noticed by a parent i have 2 kids going through hormonal crap and its not pretty!

moods, agressiveness, depression, frustration, tears etc
It depends on the person. Some teens are influenced incredibly by thier horomones. Some are barely influenced at all. Guys are usually affected most sexually. Girls just get somewhat moody and more vain. As far as when it ends, that is really up to the individual's body.
Big time there becoming adults and feel they should be able to run there own lives and the hormones just aggravate it and they don't even realize it. I know I went Thur puberty when my mother was going Thur her change of life. It was hell for my dad there for awhile
My daughter is almost 17 now. Yes, she became a different child when she started into puberty. It's been gradual . . . . and seems to have peaked in the past year or two, with it being the most difficult time of her life and my life as well, since I get the blunt of every crying spell and mood swing. I'm there for her always, but it's hard. I am really hoping that things will settle down in another year or so. Until then, I'm hanging in there with her, knowing that when she's a little older that she will be more even-tempered and a joy to be around 100% of the time.

What effect does teenage crime have on teenagers and society?

I knoooow! Boring question to answer but i need your opinions haha.

    Thanks

xoxoWhat effect does teenage crime have on teenagers and society?
makes the good teens look bad

costs the government money sortin owt the mess they make n trouble they cause

Old people dont feel safe anymore

People look down at teens in shameWhat effect does teenage crime have on teenagers and society?
this has nothing to do with your question, but i need to write this.

teenage abortion is legal in all states

but without parental consent, it's legal in over 20 states.

and that's when children aren't even allowed to take tylonol or anything to school.

    disgusting.
It makes society see teens as dirt bag losers who don't know what's good for them, certain teens of certain races inspire racists beliefs among other people, teens can screw it up for their parents. And teenage crimes distract us from other deeper crimes.

  • Are teenagers undervalued by a society that makes all decisions for them?

in school we are taught to be democratic citizens through citizenship lesson but when we are old enough to decide if we want to go war or old enough to pay taxes we cannot vote to represent our views.do you think that it is right or not? And why.Are teenagers undervalued by a society that makes all decisions for them?
If you had a 5 year old child, would you let him or her make all the decisions for themselves. You're at the age of learning your rights, but there are plenty more people that has learnt that a long time ago. Are teenagers undervalued by a society that makes all decisions for them?
Of course teenagers are undervalued, all the guys up the top care about is raising future tax-payers and consumers. The world is messed up and no one gives a damn about anyone's views. At my school one of the teachers I know complained about teaching 'democracy' because it was highly unreflective of today's society and democracy is to me no different and flawed than communism. Claiming people have a fair say just because they make one measly vote every now and then is just like saying everyone is equal when it's obvious they're not because they aren't in comparison to people in the government. If 'democracy' was really as it said it was with all people getting their say then true democracy would be anarchy where there is no governing body and everyone is entitled to do and say as they please.
that is exactly what i say. if you are old enouh to pay taxes you should be old enough to vote.

teenagers are undervalued i feel. we are demonised and feared and to be honest the majority are real nice hard working people, and yes there are wrong uns and ones who have just lost there way but demonising them is'nt helping. when some excpects you to act in a certain way you usaully do.
people just have to do what they think is best for children. teenagers are still children and i guess we have to do the best we can to actually do whats best for them..their opinions and well being are important but i wouldnt expect them to run the teenage nation lol

Should teenagers be allowed to grow their hair how they want?

This is not a legality question. I’m not asking whether or not it should be illegal to force a kid to cut their hair. I’m just asking if it’s good parenting not letting your 16 year old son grow his hair out.Should teenagers be allowed to grow their hair how they want?
If it is a sloppy mop I think you should force him to cut it but otherwise just let him be.

WTF for the thumbs down you want your kid to look like a mop wowww yall don't care.........Should teenagers be allowed to grow their hair how they want?
I am a mother of 10 and I would never tell my kids how to cut their hair, it is such a superficial thing. However I will let my kids, boyfriend, best friend , and everyone else I care anything about know if they are walking around looking like a loon! If you are trying to be taken seriously by anyone I would stay away from crazy colors or cuts, but if you are in school and it is not going to be a distraction then you can make the argument that there will never be another time in your life when you will have an opportunity to do this, since you will be working and have to be a clean cut responsible young man.Plus tell them they can pull out the pictures of you in 20 years and tease you. Oh yea , as you are a teenager make sure to wash your hair everyday so you don't turn into a grease ball :)
Especially because he's a teenager you should let him do with his hair what he wants. He's trying to be an individual and he finally feels he can be himself more fully.

    Let him,

Now if hes shaving words or stuff in his hair that he shouldn't or goes skinhead I wouldn't worry.

+ if you force a hair style on him he could resent you for it; if not for you just not letting him express his individuality.
If teens wanna grow their hair out, let them. Teens know what hair is in or out, and they just wanna fit in. Or they just like the hair style themselves. it's like having to be forced to wear some clothes that your mother picks out. Probably not what the teens were looking for,.

edit:haha, believe it or not, some people think the 'mop' hairstyle is cute. As do I. I like shaggy hair. As long as its not too shaggy.
im a guy and i do like to have my hair a bit longer i do not like those buzz cuts or bald head to me bald heads remind of ex convicts i do not know why i just think that you can get cooler haircuts with longer hair

although during the summer months its better ot have shorter hair cause its kinda cooler

or at least that is how i feel about it
hair is hair we all have it plain and simple... i dont see where people get the ideas that there is a wrong way to have hair cut or styled? whatever happened to simple preferences...if the kid is 16 i dont see why not?? cant u drive a car at 16?
I think once a kid can take care of their hair and show an interest in getting it cut a certain way then it should be up to the child.

And once a kid hits 13 there should be no ifs ands or buts about it..it should be up to them.
I think parents shouldn't have control over that as long as it doesn't get overboard like some weird shape and bright color.

    like this for example:

    http://www.nofxofficialwebsite.com/photo…
You should be allowed to grow your hair however you want, unless it becomes a case with your job because unfortunately they can tell you that longish hair is unprofessional and unsanitary.
Well if they are a teenager, then let them grow their hair. It's better than letting them go out and party, do drugs, and so on.
    Girl: I wouldn't care

Boy: I wouldn't let them grow it out.

It's not bad or good parenting.. It's your own choice.. I sugesst letting him grow his heair out if he gets good grades..

    :D
It's on their heads, therefore they should be allowed to do whatever they want with it.
Hmm, well it depends how long. If like shaggy-ish, its probably ok, but if its shoulder length, uhm EW, no way.
long hair is popular on boys in certain circles of fashion/style. Nothing's wrong with that as long as it is clean.
I think he should be free to do as he pleases (with his hair of course ^^).
Let him do what he wants with his hair.
    its his hair isnt it

What kind of music is popular for teenagers in quebec?

We've been assigned a penpal who lives in quebec and I was wondering what kind of music she might listen to.

Would they listen to the same kind of music we do?What kind of music is popular for teenagers in quebec?
Well, a lot of teens are getting into underground music there, underground hip hop, rock, punk, rap etc.

Younger kids: Hannah Montana (like every single kid in the world)

Adults: I guess they tend to listen to some modern easy rock? Traditional French

In certain parts of Quebec, traditional French music is the big thingWhat kind of music is popular for teenagers in quebec?
aaaand don't forget, quebec is a bilingual province for sure, but the further south you get, the more english is spoken. someone in rural quebec won't know any english, someone in quebec city may have a difficult time understanding english, and someone in montreal will most likely be fluent and even most times without an accent.
If its a penpal. Why don't YOU ask her?

    Its a conversation starter.
    well it better be

What are some easy things to buy teenagers for lunch?

Besides frozen pizza, ckn nuggets, sandwich stuff and ramen noodles. They have got to be tired of this stuff, I would be.What are some easy things to buy teenagers for lunch?
You just named the best stuff. I should know - I'm 16.What are some easy things to buy teenagers for lunch?
somthing healthy maybe?? orrr yorgot... pudding :P hehe umm Viteamen water.. it tastes good :P hehe and umm.... sorry thats it :P
Cheese Quesidillas are easy to make, you just need a pkg. of flour tortillas, a bag of lettuce, and some Kraft shredded cheese. There's also bagels, any kind of fruit, Easy Mac, salads..Most grocery stores have pre-packaged macaroni salad and stuff like that. No one in my family cooks, so I'm used to eating easy microwave-type stuff. Hope this helps!!
It's the summer and I have a house full of teens on a daily basis. They never get tired of those things. Try adding some frozen chicken and beef fajitas, Pizza flavored pizza rolls as well as the mexican style ones. Keep tons of chips , popcorn around as well. They love the ice cream and popsicles. Frozen sorbets. (which are readily available now) Keep Mashed potatoes and tons of brown gravy around. They can use this to put on hamburgers as a mock salisbury steak. They can also cook frozen chicken fillets in the oven and or on a george forman grill with various seasonings from mexican to greek. It's easy to prepare and doesn't take long. Tons of beverages should also be on hand from Gatorade, Juice, Teas, and Milk with assorted syrups readily available. Frozen Fruit (strawberries) and frozen concentrated punches make it easy for them to make Fruit Smoothies as well; which they also love.

For quick breakfasts; keep frozen scrambled egg patties on hand with Sausage patties, cheeses, and egg muffins , bagels etc...

Frozen pancakes only take 1 min. 20 secs. to cook in mikey and assorted syrups make it fun. Waffle sticks etc...

    Hope that helps a bit.
    make nachos or tacos.
why not make more dinner food so they can take some for luch the next day. also fruit and veggies are good. why dont you take them to a sams club or costco or any other big wholsale store so they can get what they want to take for lunch it'll be easier on you b.c they'll be the ones choosing the food for themselves
    hot pockets, pizza rolls,
    pitta pockets!?
They have some good frozen Mexican food now. Hot dogs, mac %26amp; cheese, frozen white castles, french fries, grill up a bunch of hamburgers %26amp; chicken and freeze them, you can get containers of potato salad and cole slaw already made, make a batch of toco meat up and keep it in the freezer and have the fixings around, hot pockets, left overs from dinner are good.
    taquitos
Being 22 and having three younger siblings within 6 years of me, I can remember my Mom filling the fridge with Lean Pockets, Macaroni, Chef Boyardee (sp), etc.

Sandwich meat was by far the best thing she could've done, though. She would buy a variety of meats and cheese. It's a quick ';snack/meal'; and it's teen-friendly.

Consider snacks like Wheat Thins to compliment their lunches, instead of potato chips. Just my opinion!
Depending on your geographic location, some super markets have sushi, Jamaican beef patties, egg rolls, and now Oscar Mayer has this new hot sandwich thing that you can buy prepacked with heating instructions.
Soda's, String cheese, individual yogurt's, chips of any kinds. My teens like the crunchy, hot cheeto's, spicey cheese-its... You could get those burritos that have beef in them with monterey jack cheese, that they can mike, in the micorowave. My kids ,just love, love , love those burritos!!! You could just change their types of lunchmeat's to like liverworst on rye toast....My kids love this with mustard %26amp; mayo mixed!!! Or you can buy like some salami, instead, and have them to put it with mustard %26amp; mayo, plus lettuce and cheese.. Or get some apple butter and peanut butter, and have them make this on toast... Or cottage cheese, with salsa mixed inside of the cottage cheese and they can dip like tortilla chips with this deliscious type of dip.... Or you can make the night before something healthy like jello with real fruit in it, and buy some good whipped cream they can top it all of with....this is a very deliscious, yet cool and refreshing lunch.. nice %26amp; light, so they dont get tired ,but instead get energized from all the nutritious stuff in it... oh, you can add walnuts in the jello too, to make it even funner to eat!! Buy lots of nuts to keep around the house for when they want to snack... and mini fruit... Like mini red deliscious apples, or grapes and cheese..... diced cheese.... this is suppose to release some sort of euforia and make us all happy when we eat grapes, apples, with cheese!! So that is really a good nutritious snack!! Dennison's chili beans with franks, and take your buns from out of the freezer and nuke them for about 30 seconds, just long enough to make them steamed of sorts, and have the chili beans already in a microwave safe bowl, with a lid, put the lid on the top slanted so the beans dont pop all over your microwave, and slice up some cheddar cheese slices, and some onions if they like them , and I have one of those microwave hot dog containers, fits 4 hot dogs, you just have to add a tad of water, in each slot. And make them chili cheese dogs with some chips on the side, with some cottage cheese for a side, or some jello, or some carrot sticks with ranch, along with celery sticks....all good for them!! Just get creative, and see what types of fruits you can make fun foods out of.... You can also visit www.foodnetwork.com .................and see what Raheal Ray says about fun foods for kids, teens, or even summer treats.... she does have menu's for kids!! So does Ina Garten's ';Contessa Barefoot'; she used to cook for the ';White House'; many years ago, until she got tired of taking orders from them, so she went out on her own with her husbands help and became a success over night, starting her own bakery in Florida, or somewhere like that!! I have made her ';Parmesan Chicken sticks'; for my kids before, and even my picky eater son ate them and requests me to make them from time to time!! They are ';OUT OF THIS WORLD!!'; Deliscious!! So you may want to either visit this site or watch channel 34 here in Arizona, you cant miss it, if you jus flip around because all day long they only have food and chef's or programs about them on 24/7 so you are bound to find some sort of show about what to feed your kids to enjoy during summer!!! Oh also you can take a watermelon and cut a hole out of the side, and add different types of fruits and nuts, and juices and put the lid back on it, and serve this to your family for a filling and refreshing lunch sometime!! Yummo!!! Good Luck to you hun!! And Happy Eating to you all !!!! SMile!!!
    hamburgers tacos spaghetti salad
as a teenager myself, i LOVE frozen pizza, mac and cheese and grillin burgers or dogs. that is all i eat during the summer. i guess it depends on if they know how to cook or not. i know how, but i like to keep it quick and simple.

    i love ramen noodles.

    well taquitos are delicious.

take them to the frozen section of the store and let them pick there are many many differnt things that they can pick from weather they like mexican, italian, health foods, chinese, they got it frozen!!!
French Fries, Burgers, sandwiches, T.V. dinners.

Obviously, hormones play a big part in the mood of people and especially teenagers. Puberty brings about drastic changes within an individual's life. What specific hormones influence teenagers' moods? What specific hormones influence guys/girls that are not in the opposite sex?

What is the hourly minimum wage for teenagers aged 14 working?

I want to start working and I don't know what the wage rate is. Can anyone help me?What is the hourly minimum wage for teenagers aged 14 working?
If you are in Australia the minimum age is

14 in NSW, QLD, NT, SA, WA, TAS

    15 in VIC and ACT

Minimum wages are also variable depending on the kind of work and the state you live in.What is the hourly minimum wage for teenagers aged 14 working?
It makes on difference if you're 14 or 44, but minimum wages vary by state. The federal rate is $5.15/hr, and this is the least that you can make (except for certain exempted jobs -- for example, working as a waiter in MA there's only a guarentee of approx. $3.50/hr because tips are anticipated). Minimum wage can vary anywhere from $5.15 - $7.50/hr in Oregon. Check for your state, though.

Also, in some states you might be too young to legally work, so if that's the case, just try to work off the books in a restraunt or something.
    $5.15
6.15 a hour. not a lot. but pretty good for a first job. im 14 too. but i am going to be 15 in july. and i have a job that pays 7 dollars a hour. so keep looking. minimum wage is good for a first job
    $5.13
in california it's $6.75 per hour
same as the minimum wage for everyone (fed= $5.15/hr.)
umm like it depends what state u live in
technically your to young to work until your 16 i think it might be 15 but minimum wage is 5.15 but most places pay about 6.50 + depending on what state your in
It varies by state, but generally the minimum wage law applies to 18 years and older.

Check ';child labor laws'; in your state.
The hourly minimum wage for anyone varies from state to state. The highest paid minimum wage is in Washington for $7.63/hr. Cities also set their own minimum wage. You will want to contact your local government center for the current minimum wage in your city/state.
The federal minimum wage is $5.15 per hour, although the local minimum wage may be higher depending on where you live. For example, the California minimum wage is somewhere in the neighborhood of $6.75 per hour and the City of San Francisco's minimum wage is something like $8.82.

I usually read books like the Clique, Gossip Girl, For One More Day, I Was a Non-Blonde Cheerleader, and things like that. I need an interesting book to read. What are some good books for girl teenagers?
Depending on whether or not you are a mature reader, and I'm assuming you are, The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold is a fantastic read. It is one of the best literary novels I have ever read. But the subject matter is pretty intense; the opening chapter of the book is an abuse scene. The story rolls on from there through the eyes of the main character, Susie Salmon. I cried at the end, and that is so unlike me. The book is incredibly moving. What are some good books for girl teenagers?
these are the books i love!

    The glass castle

    the bell jar

    lovely bones

    harry potter

ummm.......thats all i can think of
Speak, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, Catcher in the Rye, A Separate Peace (I think it's a greatttt book but lots of people think it's boring so yeah..i dunno) and there's this series called Daughters of The Moon that I quite liked when i was around 14 so yeah..hope u enjoy some of these books!!
Read the four ';Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants'; books......they're good
The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle!

This is a good book! It was my favorite for years. :)
Stick to school books %26amp; someday you'll be very wise %26amp; wealthy.
You could try TTFN or TTYL by Lauren Myracle. The books are all written in instant messaging and are about three best friends.

If you want a more challenging read with deeper subject matter, consider classics like Syliva Plath's (I just slaughtered her name) The Bell Jar. The book deals with a smart and talented young girl who falls into a deep depression and apathetic state. J.D. Salingar's Catcher in the Rye might also be of interest to you. Both of those novels are quite dark though. Looking For Alaska by John Green is also a tragic but stirring novel that was an interesting read. The Secret Life of Bees is also a wonderful read too. If you're interested in any of those books, feel free to email me.
The Alice books are good, they are about high school girls, they're interesting!
I'd recommend The Year of Secret Assignments by Jaclyn Moriarty.

    First Impressions by Marilyn Sachs

Dairy Queen by Catherine Gilbert Murdock

    Twilight by Stephenie Meyer

Blue Bloods by Melissa de la Cruz

I'd Tell You I Love You But Then I'd Have To Kill You by Ally Carter
I highly recommend ';Sloppy Firsts'; ';Second Helpings'; and ';Charmed Thirds'; by Megan McCafferty. They are a little bit more ';this-could-actually-happen'; than the Gossip Girl series.

I love Pizza Shack, actually used to drive 45 mins from Bucks County after we moved. It's located on 15th Street, I think the cross street is Porter. They only do take out though.

Primos is great too, again they only do takeout.

    The Mexican Post is good.

Marathon Grill has great food (the best chicken caesar salad EVER).

Cosi is a chain but totally good.

The corn chowder at Au Bon Pain is fabulous.
If you and your teens are adventurous, try Rangoon (Burmese Food) - on 9th street between Arch and Race. Great food, atmosphere and price!
Pat's or Gino's. Best cheesesteaks in Philly. They run about $5.75/sandwich. Both are located at the intersection of 9th %26amp; Passyunk and both are open 24 hrs.
Taconelli's pizza. You have to call ahead to reserve your ';dough'; like the day before, it's the best and a good atmosphere

Even if you want to find your biological parents, dont forget the parents who have been using a lot of energy and money in rasing you to what you are now. Through all the years, they have been giving all the loves and cares to you to make you a normal teenageer.

In our chinese old saying, a biological parent is not as close to me as a foster parent.

I dont want you to hate your biological parents, but I dont like them to give you up just becaue you are a girl.

I would recommend working at an ice cream shop or any other locations that sell food or drinks. It's easy, and they are always looking for more kids to hire.
