  • Why are teenagers expected to just sit back and take crap from adults?

Its pathetic. Why are adults better than us just because they're older??Why are teenagers expected to just sit back and take crap from adults?
    no clue

    bcuz im 15 nd yet

    dont have a answer

if u find the answer email me okay?

    thnx

    much love

dana%26lt;33Why are teenagers expected to just sit back and take crap from adults?
If you're talking about the questions you asked in the Religion %26amp; Spirituality section, people are not rude there because you're a kid, they're rude because they're arrogant and think they know everything (many of the people in that section are like that.)

Probably because 20 or 30 years ago they were asking that same question (though not on Yahoo! Answers) and now that they finally have the right to discipline their kids, they abuse the privilege.

Just take comfort in the fact that someday you'll be an adult. Remember how you feel now and be nicer to kids.
I think they do for several reasons:

    1. They were scolded a lot in their youth so they think it's okay to do it to kids now and they've forgotten how much they used to hate it

    2. They think they're better than you because they're older

    3. They know they have the power of control over you so you can't snap back or else they can ground you or blah blah blah
Classic case of “respect your elders” Over the internet, I wont respect elder people who has a go at me. In the real world, if an adult was to yell at me about something, I’d shut the hell up and listen. I was taught to respect those around me younger and older and to this day, regardless of how absurd some adult’s remarks to me are, I shut up, take it in and get over it.

Adults get the complete wrong perception of teens because there’s so many of us out there challenging those of higher authority but just the same, we judge them back. And why should adults take a back seat to teenagers crap? That’s not how it works. In the pecking order, teens come UNDER adults, so put up and shut up no matter how wrong or right they are. I’ve had adults misunderstand things I’ve done, judge me, accuse me of things I had nothing to do with, judge me as a minority instead of judging me for who I am as a person. But no matter how wrong they are, I will never ever turn around and tell them they’re wrong. I just bite my tongue and listen and if it’s completely outrageous what they’re saying to me, than maybe I’ll say “Excuse me, but I think you have the wrong end of the stick”. It’s never right to be wrongly judged by anyone but when it comes to the statement “Why are teenagers expected to just sit back and take crap from adults”… when really, adults should be the ones asking why THEY should sit back and take crap from teenagers. If anyone’s out of line, it’s teenagers toward elders. We’re so disrespectful toward older people it’s not funny, no matter how right or wrong they are.

I challenged my grandmother once and I challenged my mother once only for them to both end up slapping me across the face. Sure, in my opinion they were out of line giving me crap for things I didn’t even do but although they were wrong, there was absolutely no reason for me to treat them the way I did. All I had to say was “Look, listen, I know you see things this way, but for ME they’re like this” but instead I swore at them, yelled at them and in their eyes, whether they’re right or wrong, I was disrespectful in my actions and they’ve slapped me up the side of the head for it. We should consider ourselves lucky that more adults don’t actually do that.
well, here's the thing. If the world teens found out how little parents actually had control, there would be chaos. I'm assuming you've been recently yelled at and your still mad. But the thing is, and I'm not agreeing with them (the adults) but, normally when you get yelled at its because you did something wrong such as put yourself or someone else in danger. Some adults overreact, maybe if you told them that you think they're overreacting, they might chill a little.

    hope this helps
For the record, I'm 17. I've been taught by my parents to respect my elders. There have been COUNTLESS times I found an adult was wrong, but I've been taught to sit back and listen. Some adults ARE complete idiots, but most of them know what they're doing. They are older, so they're much wiser, as much as you don't want to believe that. You get nothing for talking back to them anyways, the stupid ones I mean.

They're not better than us because they're older; they just usually know more. If you disrespect them, of course they're going to get mad. Who likes getting disrespected? We're probably going to understand why when we're older.
adults think because theчre older theчre kind of in charge of us, even if theч dont know us?.. it is pathetic. on here ive asked questions before and i get more sense out of a 13 чear old giving me advice than a 30 чear old because all theч do is have a go at me!

and it reallч annoчs me how us teenagers are put down so much bч adults, we are not actuallч all the same. we don't all think it's cool to vadalise things and carrч round guns and knives and get pregnant at 13-14.
It doesn't count if they're adults, but i kinda agree with you. Especially when they expect you to respect them, then they think they can treat you back any way they want.

Some of them are so rude in public, but you just have to put up with them or they'll call you a hooligan, or a 'typical teenager'
To me, there is no difference between children, teenagers or adults. Adults just teat teenagers like **** because they were probably treated that way when the were teenagers and because of this, the teenagers treat the children like **** and the cycle continues on^.^
its ok honey you know what sometimes i get to much stressed cause of this, like don't do this or don't do that, don't go there and all that, actually there is a generation gap between us that's why they cant think ,what we have in mind, and they cant understand us,they think they are trying to protect you,and that's really true in some situations, cause they have much more experienced in life, but sometimes elders also make mistakes, but they don't except it,cause they are adult, they think they are right every time,i used to get in my room when they scold me and listen lite nice music, with a juice, its ok they are our adults they have the rights to scold us,that's how we both will do to our children's,when we become elders honey, and you know if you try to take our sons side in his mistakes then i will be very angry with you,our daughter should be given freedom more then our boy ok?cause girls are gods best gift, this is how we will talk after we got married (if we get married) who knows about future, stop laughing now i know you are laughing on me,but jess this is it,so live your life cause life has to go on
Because, and all due respect, you DONT know much about whats out there.

No matter how mature, smart and responsible a teenager may be, you dont have the WISDOM that an adult does.

They have been on this planet longer, and as much as we hate to admit it, they know ALOT more.

Im not saying that all adults are like this either...but theres no point in trying to fight it.

Honestly...wait until your in your 40's with your own teenage children. You'll look back on this question and go

    ';i get it now';
    b/c you are kids!

    you should respect your elders

and i doubt its about adults acting better than teens

its more like adults want the best for kids and want you to succeed instead of make the mistakes they did

p.s. the adults that you think are pathetic put food in ur stomach, roofs over your heads, clothes on ur back etc etc
i've never understood it, i kind of think like bruno said ';they went through it so they think that we must too'; but thats doesn't make sense, a good parent wouldnt want their kid to go through what they went through, theyd try to make life easier for their child. i really have no clue whatso ever cuz every answer i think i can easily turn around and see how it is unreasonable ;D i guess its one of the ****** up things about life that we can never change
It depends what sort of crap. If it's lectures and them telling you not to do something, then you should listen. If they are telling you to do something stupid or forcing their views down their throat ignore them :)
IDK why adults think like that.

Maybe they view us as immature and incapable of things and so treat us poorly?

Maybe they think just because THEY have been thru it WE have to go thru it?

Maybe you are around some very arrogant adults?
If you can find a solid answer for this question, please email me and tell me, cause im 18 and still dont get as much respect as some older people. In college is better than high school though, from personal experience
because they have more power and influence.

I feel you. Im tired of sitting in school ';learning'; from adults at half my IQ level. Among other things. But yea, all you can do is wait...
i know like they werent worse.

in the 60's they got high had sex and didnt go to school.

i guess they are trying to help us so we dont make the same mistakes but screw them i do whatever i want
You sound kind of immature, no offense. Just rebel against them and wear black all the time. That really pisses adults off.
because they believe they have been there %26amp; done it. maybe they think there wiser to. just ignore it. some people on here are just stuck up anyway so its best not to think anything of it really.
    Because adults are wiser.
its how it is they have lived longer they no more stuff so u should listen to them they r trying to help you even if they r rubbish at it somtimes
They've lived longer than us, therfore know more about the world around us, therefore we should give them respect.
    Vanity.

It's the same with Doctors, they think their better because they have a small piece of paper.
    Because it's their turn.

How are teenagers behavior's different now then 10 years ago?

This is for my sociology class. Please state age when you answer. How are teenagers behavior's different now then 10 years ago?
I really don't think teens are much different than they were 10 yrs. ago, just like they weren't different 40 yrs. ago. What I mean is, kids are kids, and will always be kids ~ rebellious, sex-starved, smart mouthed, know it all, fun-loving, disrespectful, etc. (some teens tend to excel in some area). :) The only difference is technology. As technology changes, so does a teens ability to be obnoxious.

Don't get me wrong, I love teenagers, but they are (and have always been) an aquired taste.

Female, 40 yrs. oldHow are teenagers behavior's different now then 10 years ago?
At teen age, they don't depend on parents a lot.

But before they are teen, for almost every thing, they depend on parents.

    I am a parent, age - 37
They're having sex thus causing a dramatic rise in teenage pregnancy.

How do I start a CORPORATION with other TEENAGERS?

Me and a few other teens (15-17) are starting a small corporation under the guidance of our school (its a school thing), but we dont know what product to sell, and we need to do one that doesnt require much start up fee.How do I start a CORPORATION with other TEENAGERS?
Start a company that makes custom t-shirts and mugs, etc. You get the order in person, then you go to the best suppliers on the web to get it made and you obviously charge a premium. As you grow you can take the profits and buy your own equipment and supplies so that you can make more money.

Like Juno or Gia? Something that will inspire someone not to go down that path after they see a movie like that? What's a great movie about people or teenagers who are misguided and lead into pregnancy or drug abuse?

What can teenagers do on a saturday night?

I'm 16 and don't know what to do, i get kicked out of pubs, cannot drink, cannot hang around on the streets, cant drink, and all i get told to do is 'go to sleep' or 'do homework'. What is there to do?!What can teenagers do on a saturday night?
Well, when I was a teenager, I was pretty laid-back (still am, at age 20), so I guess you could watch TV, have friends come over and hang out the house, play games online or on any game consoles you might have, surf the web, talk to any friends you might have online...

or you can sleep and do homework, but since everybody's pretty much telling you that, I'm not going to suggest it.

I hope I was at least a tiny bit of help. Sorry if I wasn't.What can teenagers do on a saturday night?
Look into YMCA or youth center activities. My town sponsored concerts, plays, even a teen safe house with big screen tvs, pool tables, and video games where teens 13-18 could hang out Thursday-Sunday evenings. You can also see movies (or rent them and watch at home, better still just check movies out of the library to save money), head to the mall, grab a bite to eat, stay in and watch tv, go bowling, play some mini-golf or head to the batting cages, go-kart tracks, go swimming.... there are a lot of options.
Look into your local teen youth groups, church groups, YMCA, so on and so forth...get together with your friends for a movie night, gaming night, Xbox night, or whatever...there are other things to do other than drink and ';hang out';.
drink indoors where no one will give you crap about it, unless it's a bust street no one will care.

call a girl to hook up with.thats what i would have done at your age.
    meditate?
    go watch a movie

What is the healthiest diet and exercises for teenagers at age 17-18 years old?

For your information, teenagers nowdays are so busy with a piles of activities, schools. So how diet can works for them? What is the healthiest diet and exercises for teenagers at age 17-18 years old?
If teenagers are busy, than i think we should all end life :). Students have the most free time, what they do constructively with that time is what counts. Even when all that is done, there is lots of free time left over unless teenagers sleep 12 hours a day and have to watch 2 hours of television atleast :).

As for a diet, look at the chinese, japanese, thai, cambodian, subcontinental diets for regular families. They mostly eat balanced diets (might have to cut back on salt and oil on some dishes). What is the healthiest diet and exercises for teenagers at age 17-18 years old?
    anything in the fridge
if u wana loose weight and become slim switch to detox diets....for detox diets open http://www.detoxdiets4all.blogspot.com and there open the pink color links for detox diet recipes and tip s that will help u loose weight at home without exercising
being active is good ... so just a matter of finding 30 minutes a day to go to the gym , or jog or walk .... and then eating healthy ... instead of eating junk all the time on the run .. pack some healthy foods ahead of time .. or shop for healthy ready to eat foods.
I believe diets are stupid, no offense to you. what happens? we go on a diet loose 5, 10 pounds and than before we know it we gain it all back. here is a better idea. make it a routine. portion your food correctly, not too much or too little.. just enough to satisfy you.(not stuff you). try not to eat candy, chips or food filled with fat. make a fruit salad with any king of fruits with maango juice and pine nuts. you can reward yourself with a small bag of chips at the end of a hard week. exercise for about one hour a day five days a week. start off slow. walking..jogging..biking...rollerblding. jeez have fun. play a game of football, basketball, i don't know. make it fun. you can be healthy and have fun!!

  • Is The Inbetweeners a correct representative of male teenagers?

Yes, it is ridiculously funny but all they do is talk about sex and it's pretty raw.Is The Inbetweeners a correct representative of male teenagers?
When I was at school and at that age, yeah we talked about shagging chicks all the time... id say its a good representationIs The Inbetweeners a correct representative of male teenagers?
    LOL,

I'm a male teenager (or an inbetweener as you want to call me), but I'm mostly friends w/ girls. We rarely ever talk about sex (and I never really see the point to) and I'm on the Cross Country team as well, and although it comes up A LOT more than when im with my friends who happen to be girls, it's not like constantly.

Yes we talk about ';shagging'; but not as much as you might think, and not as explicit as you might think.
Its a gross exaggeration of boys aged between 15-20( or even upwards) but there is a lot of truth there. Most o my friends are boys, and they spend some time talking about the length of their genitals and sex, much to my amusement. But mostly we have regular conversations.
its a bit exaggerated but its still really funny

What are some jobs that involve working with teenagers?

You see i want to work with teenagers. But i don't know exactly what job to to. I was thinking of being a youth counselor of something like that. And you please give me some job ideas and tell me what all would be involved in that particular job. What are some jobs that involve working with teenagers?
what qualifcations do you have? You mentioned being a youth counselor but are you aware that they don't just allow anyone to work these types of jobs? You need certain qualifications to counsol teens.

Why do teenagers get pregnant in the first place?

I know rape is possible but that is rare. I mean OMG how stupid can you be? Have these kids never heard of keeping their legs shut or protection? Then why do they keep the baby and ruin it's life to?Why do teenagers get pregnant in the first place?
I think maybe, some girls who are insecure and want to be popular, try to fit in by having sex with a Random guy, who says he wont do it with a condom, so they get pregnant that way....

I dont think theyre stupid, just naive, or uneducated, they might think (as LOTS of people do) that its impossible to get pregnant the first time....

I think telling someone to keep their legs shut wont help, because sex is natural, and it needs to be done, and theres nothing wrong with teenagers having sex, if theye both 100 per cent happy with it, but im with you on the protection thing, people need to use contraception, IF they dont want a baby! Why do teenagers get pregnant in the first place?
Ok lady teens get pregnant one way, sex. And that is how all people get pregnant, and oh my goodness they should keep their legs close or at least use protection. And as for the baby part, why should they act as god and choose if someone lives or dies. If they get pregnant then they must deal with the consequences of raising a child, but yet I do believe in adoption. If the parent knows they cannot raise the child correctly then they can put them up for adoption, because blood doesn't matter how good of a parent someone is.
Not all of the babies lives are ruined. Every situation is different. And you ask why they keep the baby, well, their body, their choice. And no protection(besides abstinence) works 100%. Honestly, I think people who say teens shouldn't be pregnant because of birth control are not making things any better because you are just giving them the mentality that if you use protection you will not get pregnant. Don't worry about teens who get pregnant, it's YOUR life that's important.
I was raped 2 times by 2 different people so what I'm stupid because I couldn't keep my legs closed even though he is the one that forced me? Are you serious!!!

Yes they know about all that stuff but all of people have them so scared to come to you and tell you that they need birth control or they need condoms or anything that they will go out there and pregnant. No one wants to talk to someone that just lectures them. That's why there are so many teens pregnant now a days.

As far as keeping the babys and ';ruining'; it's life. You do not ruin a babys life when a biological mother keeps it. It is only ruined when it is a nonloving home. Other then that you don't ruin it. It's good that they keep the baby because it teaches responsibility.

So what exactly was the purpose of this post? You will not accomplish anything at all with something like this.
Look everyone falls to temptation in one area of their life at one time or another. Young teens are tempted more than their share these days. It is in the media and the schools. It seems that sex at a young age has been an acceptable way of life and sometimes when they are put into situation and those hormones take over they lose control and the next thing you know they are having sex without protection. Even some of the kids that have been brought up with good morals can fall into this temptation or let other talk them into something they aren't ready for. They do it without thinking.

listen, you don't know anything. you can't just sit around and say things bout girls that get pregnant, honestly it's not there faults. my best friend lost her virginity to her boyfriend and they were in love and everything and the condom broke on them and she and him had no clue and she got pregnant and didn't know untill three months and had an abortion and she feels horribly. but see the thing is she was in love, and some girls are in love that they of course are going to have sex with there boyfriend and if they are pregnant nobody wants to kill a baby. so untill then when you're in that situation i don't think you will be talking as much crap as you are now.
    i dont understand it.

    yes, i want a baby. i have since i was like 14.

i love kids. but that's why im a nanny for 2 infants. i like to be able to give them back to their parents at the end of the day and have a full 16 hours of no diaper changing, screaming, hair pulling, etc. I could take good care of a child but i still want to have fun at this time in my life.

and i dont want to give it just good care, but a good family, with a fully participating father.
Because when you are that age your hormones take over and logic can go out the window. I'm sure most don't think that they will get pregnant. There are so many misconceptions out there on sex and pregnancy, I'm surprised that there are not more teen mothers. Some people don't feel comfortable having an abortion or giving the baby up.
    What's with these useless rants!?

You haven't been in this situation so you have no idea what the hell you are talking about!

';Keep the baby and ruin their life too'; at least we are not getting an abortion! How do you know that their life will be ruined? My daughter has a very good life! Yes I have heard of protection and so has everyone else!

Why don't you keep your mouth shut and your opinion to yourself!? You can stop assuming things because it isn't working for you!
well in reality the same exact thing can happen to an adult and they wouldn't be frowned upon as much as a teenager'

one of my good friends is a teenage mother and she is trying her best to make life as best as she can for her little one.

    like i always say

    ';age doesn't define how good of a parent you will be, your actions and how you handle your situation do!';
i had my first child at 15 and the 2nd one at 19, and i was on birth control both times(depo with my first one and the patch with my 2nd) I have been with my husband since i was 14, its been 7 years now.my children's lives were NEVER ruined!!! I even raised my sister (18 now) and my brother (only 15).if it wasn't for my husband and i they would be in foster care. I don't know why people stereo-type parents based upon their age.my own parents are in their 40's and can't even povide a home to their children, a stable job, or anything at all.
Lack of sex education, but also consider that even people using condoms and BC can still end up with a baby. Also, the baby's life is not always ruined. Sure, it's hard, but if it has caring parents and family, then how can you automatically say it has a bad life?
    I agree.

    They have sex, to prove there love... to get ';popular';

Option one- The guy wears a condom... Dosen't know how to put it on and it comes off or rips.

Option two.- He wants to prove he's a man.

Option Three- He doesn't wear one.

Option Four- The condom is taken off above undies and the ';fishies'; are spilled in there and gets you pregnant.

    I don't believe in abortion.

But a lot of wives or single people... want to have a kid but they just can't. There body won't let em.'
Why do so many people post the same question?

We all get it. It sucks that teens get pregnant. That has been established. Live your life, do what you do, get on with it and STOP worrying about someone else who's pregnant.

This is starting to get as bad as the, ';Am I pregnant?'; questions.
sometimes they get pregnant purposely trying to be grown. the majority of the time they get pregnant because they having sex unprotected. alot of the girls having sex want to use protection but be to nervous to tell the parents and they end up pregnant.
it comes from having sex without using any form of birth control.

some girls are afraid to ask for birth control. some just don't know any better...they get caught up in the moment, and then it is too late.

not everyone has the benefit of sex ed.
this is a really stupid question. some kids actually use protection and accidents happen. and rape is not rare. 1 out of three women will be sexually assualted in her lifetime. and you can have sex if you want.
Well, it is called a mistake.

After they get pregnant, I think they won't do it because they don't want to get pregnant and dealing with pregnancy stuff again .
because they thing they are grown. they don't understand that things can happen, it's not just a good time. When you understand that you have to take responsibility for your actions then you will be grown.
maybe some use protection. how ignorant can YOU be? Accidents happen! Rape isnt rare. It happens a lot. They keep the baby cause THEY want to. Gosh!
gurl many teens make mistake it just happenz and well we keep our babycuz it would be the right thing to do unless u kno u cant or arnt economly capable of supporting him so plz dont call us teen mommys ignorant we just made a mistake
I don't like these useless rants. Ranting about it on Y!A will not stop anything. Put your kid on b/c when they are older and you can stop, at least one teen. Have a nice day.
because some guys can't keep it in their pants, and some girls can't keep their legs shut. shame isn't it ?
because they think it won't happen to them.

and they have never heard of a little word called 'abstinence'

Pool party like (luau party) is a good idea; Skiing; Camping/Hunting if your grandaughter is more of an outdoor type or a Masquerade party where everyone wears a formal attire and of course wears a mask.
    Murder mystery.

There is places that will do it for you, or there are kits online you can buy and they have different rated plots so they are age apporpriate.
Watch a chick flick at a theater that offers birthday packages. Make sure you have a room for cake and ice cream after the show! And tell her Happy Birthday! ;-)

How do I start a CORPORATION with other TEENAGERS?

Me and a few other teens (15-17) are starting a small corporation under the guidance of our school (its a school thing), but we dont know what product to sell, and we need to do one that doesnt require much start up fee.How do I start a CORPORATION with other TEENAGERS?
this is my idea but keep it simple. go to walmart and buy a bunch of those new energy saving light bulbs then go door to door in your area of all your students houses and friends and family and offer to change their light bulbs for only $2.50 donation per bulb the average house has 8 to 15 lights. be careful and you will see a great return and you will be doing something for the community you can even ask for larger donations because of the cause your promoting. make it a non profit and just pay your executives a fee for their time. hope this helps. How do I start a CORPORATION with other TEENAGERS?
Are you sure that you are being asked to form an actual corporation or just a pretend one?

Because you won't be able to do it since none of you are of legal age to enter into contracts by yourselves (parents or guardians would need to sign for you).

To incorporate a business requires a lawyer no matter what - and lawyers aren't cheap no matter what.

Plan on $250 to $500 to incorporate a business (which as you say has no idea what it is going to sell). The usual successful order is develop a business plan and then start the business - not the other way around.

If your teachers can tell you otherwise (i.e. that teens can form a corp.) by all means follow their advice.
try home made cookies, trust me some people have become multimillionaires doing this and you don't need lots of start up money to do this!! good luck
You'll need an adult. You can't do much while you're under 18.

  • Should all teenagers start off with a crappy car?

someone at my work is about to buy their 16 year old a 2 year old lexus in almost new condition. Needless to say this person frequently spoils her kid at every chance she can get. I really feel that acts like this are actually detrimental to a childs upbringing. Shouldnt kids learn through trial and error. Kids are supposed to have crappy cars that are pain in the a*** to upkeep. It gives them responsibility, something that most teenagers know nothing about. does anyone agree, disagree?Should all teenagers start off with a crappy car?
for sure! I got my first car at 17 a 1991 oldsmobile, clean and prim condition (however i later learned about the engine, breaks, and other things were bad XD) and i was just washing the car today and noticed all the scratches and bumps the car now had. It occurred to me that as much as i said i was a good driver, it didn't make me perfect. No matter how old, a new driver is a new driver and WILL bump into fence posts, mailboxes, other cars, open their doors into objects, scratch it, and spill things in it. So it really does teach responsibility, NO child deserves a nice car until they have a really crappy one firstShould all teenagers start off with a crappy car?
I wouldn't say they should get crappy cars. They should have something safe and reliable. Also they should have to help with the purchase. Wheather they pay the parents a car payment or they save up and pay for it themselves. We plan to have our children save and then we will match whatever they have to help them get something reliable. I don't want my kids stranded anywhere because the car was a pos and broke down. But I don't want them to have everything handed to them either. I also don't think they should have something that is ';a pain in the a** to upkeep either';. Getting oil changes and keeping it clean, tagged and miantained should give them responsibiltiy.
I agree that teens should not start off with a brand spanking new car. It just sets their expectations way too high at such a young age. If you're used to the best of the best at 16, you're going to be extremely disappointed when you're starting off at the bottom of the career ladder and having to revert to owning things that weren't as good as what your parents gave you. I think it helps build character if a teen starts off with something old at first. Plus it's a set of wheels that gets you from A to B, that's all that should matter to them. When I was 16 and got my license, my parents let me have the 10-year-old family minivan to take me to school, work, etc. I was thrilled! My own transportation! My own wheels! It's a priviledge to be allowed to drive and I don't think that kids that are spoiled learn that.
I think all teenagers should start off with a crappy car, because you just got your license, you may know how to drive but your not that experienced.

I'm 17 [almost 18], and I got my license probably 25 days after I turned 16... my dad bought a new car and I got his old.

I still drive that piece garbage.. and I will until I can buy my own car.

The dome light is taped to the ceiling because it was falling off, it needs to go be fixed because something is falling off or something, and the ac doesn't work.. it doesn't have automatic anything, and when you roll down the drivers window you need be careful because the handle is broken. Plus; It's got major hail damage.

I'm not sure why I decided to go into great detail about my car, but.. bottom line; if I were smash the car, it wouldn't be thousands and thousands of dollars down the drain... whereas if I smashed a BRAND NEW car it wold of major money wasted.
i don't think you should have a ';crappy'; car so to speak.

but if someone give their kid a lexus, where's the next step? if they then expect their kid to grow up and get a maybach or ferrari when they're on their own, then fine whatever.

but don't buy your kid a lexus, and then wonder why they're still living in your house, asking for allowance, not paying a dime, and not being an ';adult';. what bothers me is when parents do all these things then expect their kid to act like they do, not taking into consideration it was their own trials and tribulations that matured them into the adult they currently are. instead, they put their kid through college, and then just cast them off without any life skills, because chronologically they're adults.
They should start out with whatever THEY saved their money for, and THEY insure and maintain.

It is not the parents' responsibility to hand over a vehicle. When kids earn it themselves, they will take care of it better, be more responsible. Spoiling and handing over whatever the darlings want teaches them that they are the center of the universe, and everything should come easy with no effort. It breeds Paris Hiltons.
Yes they should. Not just for a ';Right of passage'; or to ';learn values'; but because buying a teenager a new car is simply a waste of the parent's money. Scientifically, almost every teenager is going to get into some sort of fender bender. Whether they jump the curb, hit a pole, hit a parked car, or have a head on collision. They are NOT experienced drivers (until they reach age 25) That's why insurance on a teenager is so expensive.
I don't know if I'd say crappy, but I definitely think they should start out in a used vehicle. My daughter is getting her license in December and we have a 2001 Dodge pickup that she will be driving. She's really happy about it, but she does have some friends who have brand new cars. I think that kids should learn that they have to work for something. Nothing is just going to be handed to you. I wouldn't mind having a 2 year old Lexus. I think it is ridiculous to buy something like that for a teenager.
Ya because of insurance, crashes, responsibility, and money

teens don't need those nice cars yet. especially if you're still getting used to the fact that you're driving!!!

but those spoiled brats go through million dollar cars every 2 flippin months (like the ones on that sweet sixteen show)
I feel that you should teach your kids they have to work if they want nice things. Not everything in life is going to be handed to you, you have to work for things that you want. My parents helped me get a car, but didn't give it to me, I had to pay for the gas and insurance and things. Kids are too spoiled today
I do not know about crappy cars to teach responsibility, BUT I agree a first car should not be new because it is a learning process. The first car will probably gets a few dents and dings and an older car is more financially feasible for most parents to provide.
I think so. It really makes you value just having a car.

I am seventeen and have 1991 Toyota Camry. The car itself was 600 dollars. It just cost me 300 dollars for new brakes, belts, a boot, and rotors (it should have been more but luckily my mom's bf is a mechanic). Now I am leaking transmission fluid, so I have a little bit more to do.
    that's true...

for those teens who are lucky enough to have parents to buy them a car at all..

it should be one that they helped pay for and since teens usually don't make that much money on there own it should be crappy so they learn that u gotta work for what u want
I agree to that. Its a rite of passage. But its really up to the parents to decide and if they can afford insurance and the possible fender benders on a lexus than more power to them.
Not nessasarily a crappy car that you got for 300 dollars at the side of the road, but nothing more then 10K with the teenager paying at least 20% in addition to all gas and insurance.
    yes, they should

regardless of how much money you have, you should start off with a crappy car

i know this one girl, her parents got her a brand new 2008 car and she JUST got her drivers licence
Disagree. You should let parents decide hows they bring up THEIR OWN kids. I hate it when people just have to comment on other people's parenting, or anything else sensitive like that.
My sister just got the brand new lotus for her drivers license and my bro got a ferrari for his drivers license last year
I hope to start off with a Dacia 1310 =))
i think so it gives you perspective
I think that they should, I wrecked my first car.
i agree and im a teen
    Honestly, yes.

It's a learning car, not the car you're going to keep the rest of your life.
I'm a teenager and my first car was a 95 Cavalier. It wasn't an old beater but it did have mechancial problems with involved me putting oil and power steering fluid in it constantly. I just sold the thing. It was costing me too much money. My Dad bought the car for me so obviously I gave him back the money I sold it for. I really appreciated him giving it to me.

I definatly wouldn't want a new car when I first got my licence. If I smashed a crappy one up, it isn't that big of a deal. Smash up a new Lexus and you're in some serious trouble. Also, if I was just given a Lexus, it isn't really teaching me anything other than ';run to Mommy %26amp; Daddy for anything I want';. I would never buy my son a new car for his birthday. I probably wouldn't hand one over to him either. He would either have to pay in total for it or pay for half (depending on the cost). Even if I wanted to give him one, I would tell him to save half the money and just put it away for him for repairs or something. That would teach him some responsibility.

Imagine the insurance on a Lexus for a 16 year old? Wow lol.I have a 2000 Sunfire GT and i'm almost 18, took drivers ed, and only use the car to drive my son to the doctor or sometimes to school and it's still over $100 a month. And those cars are certainly no wheres near the same category!

What is the best cruise for families with teenagers?

If you have been on a cruise, what activities were available for teens? Did they have fun? What is the best cruise for families with teenagers?
I agree teens will enjoy just about any cruise, but if they want interaction with other teens, I'd recommend Royal Caribbean. It offers the best of both worlds - you want to have a nice time on the cruise and relax, they want to meet, friends, party, and be entertained constantly.

Celebrity - is a bit more upscale, but a sister company of Royal Caribbean and I would also highly reocmmend.

I'd make Carnival my 3rd choice. Not my favorite line as I believe they do not offer the same quality in accommodations, service, food, etc. as those mentioned above. Certain times of the year, especially during spring break, not always the best atmosphere for impressionable teens.

If you'd like to discuss, please feel free to email me at gsa_stlmo@yahoo.com.What is the best cruise for families with teenagers?
How wrong some people are - different lines cater for different markets. Some ships are full of old people - would teens like that?

Royal Caribbean's five 'Voyager' Class ships are fantastic - with Rock Climbing Walls, Ice rinks etc. There new ship 'Freedom of the Seas; even has a surf machine!
They will have more fun than you do, we took the kids to Mexico for a week and pledged never to do that again! Three great looking teenage girls and two boys looking for danger...too much input for old people...but the staff kept them busy and smiling the whole time.
Disney Cruise Line has a teen hangout area. They have disney shows, current movies, so much to do. I would highly recommend Disney!
Disney cruises are good although expensive.
The Royal Caribbean ';Voyager Class'; of ships are FABULOUS! In addition to the arcade and malt shop, there's a shopping mall, a teen club, roller skating, ice skating, movies, swimming, sports, rock climbing etc. They could never find that much to do at home. When I was with a group that included a number of teens, it seemed like we only saw them at dinner and on shore excursions. They all had their own things to do and made lots of friends.

Lots of great cruise deals and information.
I have traveled other cruise lines and Carnival, by far, has the youngest crowd. I traveled with two teenagers on a cruise from Miami. They had a blast. I would recommend Carnival Cruise lines if you are traveling with teenagers. When you travel is also important as well. Traveling during the school season, you will find less teens on board for your teens to interact with and thus less activities on board. Carnival has specific teen activities and our teens met other teens they hung out with during the cruise. It also gave us parents more alone time! Activities include savenger hunts, arcades, their own dance club time, sports challenges and other get together type events. My teens still talk about the cruise as one of our better family vacations.

Divine Secrets of the Ya Ya Sisterhood, it's not teen friends... but about friends that grew up.

Why do teenagers think there life is so hard?

Because they are just beginning to confront problems. After you get a little older, you get used to the stuff that used to put you in a tizzy. Also, teens global view seems to center around themselves. I think that takes time to grow out of too.Why do teenagers think there life is so hard?
Their friendships become more make-or-break, relationships more intense, and because their daily schedules are always so full, with school, multiple subjects' worth of homework, extra-curricular activities, sports and social urgings. And also a requirement from parents and science for at least 8 hours of sleep every night. Why do teenagers think there life is so hard?
cuz they think they know what time it is and they have no clue, raging hormones distort it all
Honestly, because some of us are really naive and others dwell on things. But mostly because we're experiencing a LOT of pressure for the first time in our lives. Between trying to make our parents proud secretly but not wanting to let them in at the same time thinking that they don't understand anything. Also the pressure to be accepted by others, because we soo desperately want to be liked. Thirdly we are trying to figure out who we are and what we want to do w/ our lives and where we are headed. What people sometimes forget is when you're a teenager your making the choices that will affect your life forever and that kind of freaks us out a little bit and it makes our lives slightly difficult to deal w/. But some of us get through it okay and some of us don't, just like some of us show how hard are lives are while others try to hide it. If you think about it, adults aren't That much different. They're just more experienced w/ life.
We have to deal with school, peer pressure, peer problems, for girls Aunt Flo, our parents, and fighting the urge to not have sex, drink, or do drugs.

As for me yea I face aunt flo, my parents, school, and peer pressures but i know adults have it harder. they have to pay bills and work and provide for their family if they have one and soo soo much more that i don't even wanna think about dealin with.
bcuz our parents do not understand or listen 2 us
Its not always true...But alot of teens do have a hard life. Its one of the difficult stages. Also, girls are moody due to their monthly friend. And when guys dont get food and sex they can get mad too...But again, some teenagers deal with very difficult things.
Because their life isn't like those kids on Disney. Plus, a lot of kids want what their friends have and if their parents can't afford it or won't give in and let them have it, they feel bad. We live in a materialistic world, and a lot of kids think that they are defined by the things that they have, not by the things that they do or how they behave. I've often noticed that the kids who do have it tough are the ones who are trying to cover it up.
this question was brought up in my music class and my teacher presented a very interesting point....

Teenagers think their parents don't understand them, but how is that so? Parents were teenagers once so therefore they DO understand what being young is like. Teens on the other hand have never been parents, nor adults, so saying to their guardians YOU DONT UNDERSTAND is completely ironic.

but as to answer the question, I think life's pretty good... I think being a teen is MUCH easier than an adult...eeeek few more years for meee :p
because theres so much pressure on us with school, our friends, drinking, drugs, and our parents.
because it is... they were just little kids not that long ago and now they're almost adults but they still don't have the knowledge or experience yet to handle the adult world, their parents want to prepare them for that in the best most responsible way possible yet they don't want to let go of their babies. just living in these times too - now that it's okay to just sleep with ';friends'; and i'm pretty sure girls aren't labled sluts anymore (not sure about this) but casual sex is much more accepted - that is emotionally draining. plus there is so much more media exposure as well as more drugs both illegal and prescription. i wouldn't want to be a teen today!
Because they don't know how to handle themselfs right...I'm 14 and I have a great time! I take no s/hit, but I'm not ';rebellious';...I get along great with my parents and if they arn't listening that's ok becuase they are just human and huge peices of s/hit on society...I have some of the best parents you could have, and I've saw alot of parents...alot of them, they all have the same mentality...because there lives are s/hit they can't get their head out of their own @$ses, they work a factory job or work in a business park...they all have the same stupid stories...who cares if they won't listen, because nooo one wants to listen to their BS! Your whole life is ahead of you and just because they are ***** up's dosn't mean you have to be! Parents are just a crutch, but the crutch won't shut the f/cuk up sometimes and they make you weaker because they hold you up...so get off that crutch and learn how to provide for yourself and work as hard as you can...My point is just be your own person and don't take s/hit from anyone...because 95% of people you wil ever see do absolutely nothing with their lives, they go to work push a button or pull a leaver all day and get home and plop in front of the TV for the next 40 years of their life...be that 5% and go travel the world and don't listen to stupidity...Ignorance breeds ignorance...and money also breeds ignorance...have you saw another John D. Rockefeller from that family? NOPE! Because they got the money so they got lazy...point and case, be productive and quit b/itching about your life, you need to live it or before you know it it's gone...
    i do?
well i really don't have boy problems and so yeah......and i don't understand either.....once i had a boy problem and tried to talk to my mom bout it but she just didn't understand so yeah....that's probably y teens complain so much is cus their parents don't understand them or listen something along those lines

How can teenagers convince their parents to get a horse?

My parents almost thought about getting me a horse but then it just slipped their minds. How can I get them to get me one?How can teenagers convince their parents to get a horse?
Well first things first, do you live in the country or have a farm in your area that you can keep there? If you live in the city, well your parents do have a point. Think about all the costs, care and time that you would have to provide for your horse? What if your horse becomes sick or injured, do you have the money to pay a vet? Would you have the money for a farrier to do your horses shoes every month?

Do you have other commitments other then horse riding (like school or sport)? Would the horse have a companion (even if it's not your horse) to play with?

email me back please! How can teenagers convince their parents to get a horse?
I think that by the time you're a teenager, you need to go to your parents with a plan in mind. You need to research all the costs, logistics, etc., then tell your parents what your responsibility in the whole thing will be. Obviously the work involved should be your responsibility, but what about money? What can you commit to paying for on a regular basis? Farrier care? Lessons? What? Even if your parents are in a position to pay for everything, I'm sure they'd like to see you taking responsibility for something you want.

If I were the parent of a teenager who wanted a horse, I would expect a well thought out plan, not just ';mommy, I want a pony';.
it probably didn't just ';slip their mind'; - parents are good for those sorts of things :P

with that being said, why not work hard and get your own?? my parents certainly never bought me a horse....in fact as much as I have half ownership of a horse currently, I got it for free but by working hard and helping his ';actual'; owner out around the barn. I am past my teenage days and have just completed college and have just begun a full-time job. I've worked hard towards my goal of one day owning a horse and it's pretty much the only way to go about it.
you need to make money and help out i am 17 and i hate all the people i know whose parents pay for everything i mean from one payind 4500 for a good horse to another pating 100,000 for a horse shipped from france(vet horse and shipping included in tht ammt) it just really bugs me im on my 3rd horse and i have a goat and dog my parents not once gave me these things i earned it, i worked for my last two at a rescue ranch there i had: 1 dog 1 cat 1 hen 1 rabbit 1 duck 2 horses and a goat yes all mine! i worked my butt off to pay for them at 13 years old. i now got my gelding for free and work to pay for board

i know that came off rude but parents do not have to or need to pay for a pet for you when anyone can do it on there own you can get side jobs when you are 7 i did.

im sure if you show youre parents that you will atleast help they might have a better chance of going for it

    but good luck
Show that you're responsible enough to take care of one, by way of taking on a job at a barn, cleaning stalls or exercising horses (do you know how to ride?)

If they say no, you can lease a horse from someone else.

I don't know if you can ride or not, or are just a horse dreamer....the trouble is....you're a teenager and that means you might be thinking about going away to college soon...even if you stay home and go to college....life has a way of getting in the way of caring for a horse (which is a job in and of itself....making time to ride and care for the horse even if you're going to board).

There's also all of the money involved:

    vaccines

    feet care

    tack

    food

    board

    daily care

    etc...

If you ACT responsible....like....do chores without being asked. And take your folks to a local barn to check out some leasable horses. That might help your cause.
They will either get you one or they won't. You can't force them. Sit down and talk to them about it. Answer their questions and discuss how much it will cost and how much time you have for a horse. If they say no, that's it. You will have to wait until you are an adult.
You can't GET them to do anything. Just ask them, but present it in the right way. Talk to your instructor and have her/him tell them that you are doing well and ready for your own horse and maybe they will get the idea....
well the main reasons for not getting one is the money, space, and maintanence. if you can reason with them and let them know that it won't be a huge responsibility, or a massive waste of money, then you have a shot.
    This article helped me!

Parents of teenagers and sports physicals: Is that physical embarassing for your kid?

Do you choose a specific doctor for sports physicals? Do you stay in the room or wait outside? Can a physical be done by the school nurse? Is there any part of the sports physical that you can refuse and still pass a physical?Parents of teenagers and sports physicals: Is that physical embarassing for your kid?
You can go to your family doctor or use the school doctor. A nurse can not give a sports physical. It is no more embarrassing than any other doctors visit. They check the basics - blood pressure, urine, breathing, heart rate and listen for murmurs. Your family doctor may run a few more tests depending on your history. As far as your parents going in the room with you or staying in the waiting room, that is up to you. They are not required to be in the room for a physical.

P.S. I just realized you were the parent asking. The school Doctor can be more embarrassing. At my old school, we lined all the kids up and they were in varying degrees of undressed (boys and girls seperate of course) but some of the kids were a little uncomfortable being undressed around other kids. Kinda like the weigh-ins for wrestling.Parents of teenagers and sports physicals: Is that physical embarassing for your kid?
My daughter has asthma, so she has always gotten an annual physical. That is used for the 'sports' physical as well. (The doctor just goes through the form and fills it out at the same time.)

If your teen no longer gets regular check-ups, you can still take him to his regular pediatrician/family doctor. Alternatively, some schools will bring in a doctor or nurse to do low cost sports physicals for the students. Ask the coach if anything is available in your community. (I'm not sure what part of the physical you would WANT to skip, but they are pretty straightforward, no different than any other standard check-up.)
yeah the physical is embarrassing, if your a girl you gotta take off you shirt and sometimes even the bra and if your a boy they usually feel the testicles. for a boy that's pretty embarrassing! I would stay in the room depending on what you child wanted. if your child wants you there then stay if not then no. whatever to make the child more comfortable!
Parents do not stay in the room if they aren't wanted by the child. Physicals have to be done by a doctor. No, you can't refuse parts of a physical.

What is a good i dea for a teenagers b-day party?

I need help planning a birthday party with my best friend, but I haven't any clue what to do! ( age around 13-15 )

(I didn't know what other catigory to put this question under!)What is a good i dea for a teenagers b-day party?
I don't know about your hometown, but we have a wicked bowling lane with the big balls and a pizza hut. when i was younger a lot of my friends always went bowling and had pizza! What is a good i dea for a teenagers b-day party?
Get everyone to go to the beach. Bring a volley ball...
Costume parties are always cool. Plus I would tape a whole bunch of music videos and have them playing in the background as the party is going on. I use to DJ parties, clubs, etc and what always went over well is when I intermix videos when I DJ. I had the music pumping through the speakers and four small televisions, located in each corner, playing the same video on each screen while everyone dance. I had about 6 hours of video (only used 3 hours of it). It was cool.

You can do one nice size tv, and have the music videos going and the sound going through a stereo.

You could also set up a camera, have a contest and see who can sing the best and make the best music video. This way, you all can goof over each other and have a lasting memory. My family did that, we had borrowed some guitars, drumsticks, brooms... played the music and lip sync to the songs. The video came out great.
    well i'm 16...SOOO...

it really depends on how mature they want to pretend to be. For example, for my birthday coming up, i'm going to be throwing a formal dinner party where everyoen has to dress up. A good idea for younger kids would be spending the day downtown (if you live in a good area) and visiting a museum and then having a picnic in the park with cake. Otherwise there are classic things like bowling, minigolf, or just a plain old party where kids come over and there is food and music and they can jump on the trampoline or run around or something.
Find a local bowling alley that has late-night bowling or glow-in-the-dark bowling. It's a blast. And it keeps them in off the streets

    .
a bot grl party with 7 min in heven invit popular boyz
have a theme.... like a way to dress....best kooky hair style.....maybe do it punk...they would have fun with that...get the music.....wear pajamas.....well there's a start......have fun!! if i think of anything else i'll add to my post
ask them what they would like........
    A clown.
Ok, it depends on who you are inviting. Is this an all girl or coed party? When I have parties I make sure that both guys and girls have something to do. Sometimes video games help. I suggest a magic show, barbecue, board games, and maybe pop balloons and see who can pop the most. Anything can be fun if you do it with a lot of people. Dancing to me is a must. If you don't mind, musical chairs could be fun. It is best if you have a DJ. These things are pretty suitable for a 13-15 party. Make sure you have lots of food.
good music. good snacks/food. invite a bunch of people and just hang out.
    My friend did a Build-a-Bear party as her 13th birthday. It was cool, sort of like her last official stance as a kid. And it's surprisingly fun. XD;
Indoor rock-climbing. It's fun, completely safe, very interactive, and they will talk about it for days afterwards (yes girls AND boys will love it). Check if there is a local indoor climbing gym in your area, most have group/party rates.

Best part for you is they will get tired out and then the noise levels in the after hours are at a minimun decibel level. ;-)
Well I am 13 and I had my birthday at the Hilton Hotel. I rented out a couple rooms, some for guys and some for girls, and we parted and ate all night, and we slept over. Every one had a blast.
    girl or boy?

For girls, you can buy a reasonably priced kit from MasterMind where the birthday girl and her friends can make their own perfume. It's pretty cool.

For boys maybe set up a small tournament of his favorite game.
you could call in a Mary Kay lady and give a make up party, she will do facials for all the girls, if boys are involved though they wouldnt like it, maybe a group movie trip, or a trip to a skate board park or skating rink. or a trip to the beach or state fair or ammusment park. or even a concert. good luck and happy birthday to the best friend.

Is The Inbetweeners a correct representative of male teenagers?

Yes, it is ridiculously funny but all they do is talk about sex and it's pretty raw.Is The Inbetweeners a correct representative of male teenagers?
Pretty much correct compared to how me and my mates were not too many years ago.Is The Inbetweeners a correct representative of male teenagers?
More so than Skins, which was (according to its creators) supposed to be an accurate portrayal of average young people. I think it is fairly accurate, yeah. :-)

  • What is the hottest fashion trend today for teenagers and young adults?

I am trying to do my makeover. I felt bored; wearing only jean and a t-shirt and long sleeves. I wanted to look sassy. What is the hottest fashion trend today for teenagers and young adults?
The current trend is outdated. You shall be flogged in the streets unless you wear the latest trend coming out tomorrow, but you better not wear it, because it's retro, and retro is out until Sunday. Tomorrow, stay inside. It's a fashion time reset. You'll implode the Earth if you go outside. Stay inside! What is the hottest fashion trend today for teenagers and young adults?
Skinny black pants. But only wear those if you don't have an a$$ or else they look bad.
I have been seeing more and more girls with short jean skirts, leggings and UGGS..... UGG I don't mind those three things alone... but all three together... AHHHH
Retro 80's stuff is hot! You can layer with lots of oversized t-shirts, leggings, miniskirts, etc.
just go to wet seal, they have the hottsest trends and are like crazy cheap
it's really hard to keep up with the trends. play it safe and stick with the jeans. you can never go wrong with jeans. but if you want to play them up then get a darker wash jean and wear them with boots and a more classic fitted top rather than tennis shoes and a regular t-shirt.
Yeah hun u dont wanna wear clothes that reveals alot:) if you know what i mean. Guys in this case wil be after you to get a piece of you. I would suggest you look in magazines. //www.chadwicks.com/

How many liters of coke and how many chips would you need for about 45 teenagers?

I am having a party and do not know how many liter of coke and how many big bags of chips I should get! There is going to be at least 45 to 60 people. Can you help me out?How many liters of coke and how many chips would you need for about 45 teenagers?
    About 25 bottles

    12 bottles regular

    7 bottles of diet

    3 gingerale or 7-up

    3 Orange

About 15 HUGE jumbo bags of chips

Go to Sams ClubHow many liters of coke and how many chips would you need for about 45 teenagers?
you will need 45 liters and 45 bags of chips - trust me , teens love chips and cola even with that much you may still run out .
Hmm.. I would say 20 liters of coke and 30 bags of chips
    25
Figure about 3 kids per liter, so 15 (2-liter) bottles.

I'd say about 4 kids per big bag of chips, so about 11 bags.

If you have other food, you can back down on the chips.
Well you can estimate about a half a liter per person and a bag would feed about 5 people. Unless that is all you will snack on I would get more.
At LEAST 45 to 60 hungry, thirsty teens--I'd get 90 liters of coke, and 40+ bags of chips--unless there are going to be other snacks and beverages available.
    40/55 soda to chips...
1 bag of potato chips for 5 people

soda will be for 3 people (this formula works)

    15-20 2L soda

    9-12 bags of chips
at least 15 liters of coke and more than (100 bags of chips!! jk..) 25 bags of chips
    lol alot

How come teenagers get away with drinking and don't get in trouble with the law?

On tv i see teenagers getting drinks. In nyc prep the kid pc is getting drinks when he goes out to dinner and he is 18 and on tv!How come teenagers get away with drinking and don't get in trouble with the law?
The kids won't likely get in trouble anyway, slap on the hand at most. But the company and bar tenders can for serving them if they get caught. On shows like that you don't (typically) see the kids being served, more than likely an agreement between the bar owner and camera crew/production company. Probably an agreement stating ';follow the kids, but leave employees out of it.'; Something along those lines I'm guessing. How come teenagers get away with drinking and don't get in trouble with the law?
Those aren't actual alcoholic drinks, dear, it's just staged. (That man you saw flying around in the red cape isn't real either.)

What can teenagers do to help the environment and to live sustainabily???

Hi. I am doing a presentation in which I want to show my classmates (9th grade) that we can live sustaiabily and that there is a way to make a difference in our environment. I have the basics: recycling, planting trees, etc. but I want more viable options or more ideas to share with the class. I am trying to really show the what normal teenagers can do for the environment, but what can they do???

Thankyou! What can teenagers do to help the environment and to live sustainabily???
Everyone is talking about being Green or eco-friendly these days. Here are some thoughts on how organizing your life is earth friendly:

鈥?When you organize, you get rid of that which you no longer need. If you sell it or donate it, you are recycling. Get rid of what you don鈥檛 use and recycle it to someone who can use it. Some great sites for recycling are Craig鈥檚 List/free or www.freecycle.com.

鈥?If you know what you already have, you will consume less. People tend to overbuy because they don鈥檛 remember already having plenty.

鈥?Many garages are breeding grounds for pollutants which are not only earth un-friendly, but also kid and pet un-friendly. By organizing your space, you can make sure you don鈥檛 have anything hazardous laying around. Check with your local government agency to find the nearest hazardous waste disposal site.

鈥?Save a tree 鈥?recycle that paper. Most people save/file/pile up way paper that they absolutely do not need. Having organized paperwork will save you stress and most likely a tree or two.

How do teenagers cover the fact they are anorexic?

I'm 14 and I was just wondering when teenagers go anorexic, how do they hide it from their parents?

Wont most parents make them eat?

What do they say the reason is for them not eating?

It would be helpful if someone that was anorexia as a teenager could help me by answering this.

Thanks very much! How do teenagers cover the fact they are anorexic?
Well, to start you cut out lunch at school (bin it). You don't snack, for dinner you say oh i'm not that hungry i had a huge lunch so you only eat a little bit and if you keep like twizzling your food on your fork then speaking just before you put it in your mouth then they think youve eaten! Breakfast - you eat breakfast have a shower and in the shower you puke it up :) When your parents realise your getting thinner then you start refusing food and by then you sure will have it drummed into your head that you think your fat. If your thinking of becoming annorexic then heres a website - http://everything2.com/index.pl?node_id=1081711How do teenagers cover the fact they are anorexic?
nonono! theyve got it all wrong! when ur bolemic u throw up!

i had a friend who was anorexic once she would sit down and eat all her meals and then she would go for a short walk only for about 5 minutes but on that walk she would puke up all of what she just ate and each week she started eating less and less and she was soo skinny it was horrible and then her mum found out about her puking up all the time and wouldn't let her out of the house so then she ended up hiding her sick under her bed coz she was so desperate. most parents cant make them eat they have 2 send them away to a special clinic where they get better my friend went to one of these and now is right as rain

Why do teenagers act up in school n not normally at home?

I have a teenager that is acting up in school. I need to know what goes thru the mind of a teenager when she does certain things at school that she shouldn't be doing? What do i have to do to avoid it?Why do teenagers act up in school n not normally at home?
Two words, ';Peer Pressure';. They don't want to be the ';Geek';, ';Teacher's Pet';, ';Nerd';, ';Goody Two Shoes';, or other titles that the other kids will put on them for showing a cooperative attitude. They are at an age where being rejected and ridiculed by their peers is worse then having a dentist do 10 root canals in one day, and, even though down deep they may know they are acting childish and inappropriately, the fear of rejection overrules any ability to independently think and act for themselves. Why do teenagers act up in school n not normally at home?
Teenagers do this to try to act cool and to try look cool in front of others especially the ones that encourage them to do it or also get into a lot of trouble. Some teens are attention hungry because they know they are going to catch attention from the other kids. No one really knows what each and every single teen has going on in their brain. You should sit down with your teen and explain the consequences she will go through in the near future because she is acting like this, like she might not go to college, not being able to get her dream job, etc. And if she doesn't care, explain to her the consequences she will get from you!( like grounding, etc.)

    Hope you like my advice!
You don't say what she's doing? Teenagers are figuring out how to act and who to be without their parents. Some acting out is normal and expected. I'm not sure what your hoping to avoid? If it is something dangerous than my answer would be different. You can only guide her through these years. If your really concerned see a therapist together. People generally feel safer talking to a mediator.
    peer pressure dude

im 13 and my class is like the hell hole of peer pressure

cuz one kid starts to act up then someone else folos cuz they think it sooooo cool then the whole class is doin it.

just tell your kid that bein popular ist so grreat and not to be a follower
Actually it could be argued the other way too.

But the reason why it might be so is because doesn't have a parent guiding her at school and telling her what she can and cannot do.

If she's not clear with that you need to talk to her about it.

    Good luck!
it's most likely her friends or maybe you haven't been giving her much attention at home? You should talk to her about it.
She is at the most critical point in their social life . She's trying to fit in . Spend more time with her talk make jokes but don't flirt with the line between friend and parent.
    cuz school sucks

Parents of teenagers and sports physicals: Is that physical embarassing for your kid?

Do you choose a specific doctor for sports physicals? Do you stay in the room or wait outside? Can a physical be done by the school nurse? Is there any part of the sports physical that you can refuse and still pass a physical?Parents of teenagers and sports physicals: Is that physical embarassing for your kid?
I'm not a parent, but I've taken a sports physical. It wasn't too bad, except for the parts where they have to check your private areas, but that is really quick, and after that it's fine. When I did mine, my mom stayed inside. I don't remember if I got the choice or not. I think you do get the option of having your parent outside though, if it makes you more comfortable. The physical should be done by a doctor. Just go to your regular doctor (your family doctor, pediatrician, whatever.) They don't give you the option to refuse. For the most part it's fine, it will be over before you know it.Parents of teenagers and sports physicals: Is that physical embarassing for your kid?
Last year I got a physical and they didn't do anything embarrassing. My parent stayed outside the room and all they did was like prick my finger for an iron count and make me do a survey and answer a couple of questions. They also did a vision and hearings test and weighed me and took measurements. Nothing big. I think all school-related sports require a physical. I just went to the family doctor
I always have the same doctor but for some reason now when I get physicals it's a girl. My regular doctor is a guy though....

My mom usually stays in the room. It doesn't really bother me because she had to do the same thing and she's my mom.

I don't think any of it you can refuse because all of it is important because it's all about your health. What they check is what they need. That way they know if your healthy enough to play sports.
For me, it's a little embarassing because they ask some personal questions and have to check your private parts, but it's really not that bad because it goes by quickly. I always make my parents wait outside but I don't think you can really refuse any part because it's important and for your own health.
well. it was never embarressing for me. all they do is check height/weight/the usual.

and for guys i think they may check for hernias, but as long as it's a male doctor there really isn't a problem.

no, it's better that you don't wait in the room. we're teenagers. i go by myself to the doctors half the time.
They don't ask anything bad. I mean they just ask me some bs stuff....I'M SICK OF THEM TESTING ME FOR ADHD......THEY HAVE DONE IT FOR THE PAST 2 VISITS....I don't look hyper or jittery, but this SAME doctor keeps doing it....and he sits there laughing....he knows it pisses me off....and he's not even my doctor...my doctor is ALWAYS out of town or something...i only met him once lmao....
i think it is when they check certain areas. and i would rather my parents stay outside of the room

There's a bunch of weight loss tips out there, from working out to the fast and effective weight loss pills.

Here are 2 quick and very common tips for weight loss:

    1. Eat specific foods. A number of food additives, like spices, can help to speed up your metabolism by creating a thermodynamic burn that has been shown to last a few hours after you eat.

    2. Increase your daily activities. To prevent fat storage and to drop any excess that you might be carrying you must increase your daily activities. Stay Active.

If you are looking into taking pills which do most of the work for you, you should try ResV Pure, a very popular weight loss pill within the US. It uses Acai and Green tea. If you're curious about this product i know for a fact that they offer free trials for first time customers (so it's risk free). Take a look at it here: http://myfatburningproducts.com

What do you think is appropriate behavior for teenagers who are dating?

Teenagers between 16-18. As a parents, what do you think is appropriate stuff they can do around you? i.e. Holding hands? Kissing? Hugging?

And what do y'all think they do when there is no supervision? What do you think is appropriate behavior for teenagers who are dating?
Hugging, kissing (pecks, not sloppy tongue swallowing), and holding hands is fine. It's the same rules as anyone in public. Just being polite is the simple rule here. What do you think is appropriate behavior for teenagers who are dating?
They should not be put into or allowed to be in situations where there is no supervision. Holding hands, light kissing and hugging (standing up) is ok. Lounging around horizontally, no. Sitting on laps, no. Doing things under blankets, no. Being in bedrooms, no.
I can say that the term 'appropriate behavior' when it comes to dating, is very relative or subjective. What you consider appropriate behavior when dating has something to do with your values and beliefs, and that of your child's as well.

If I were in your shoes, I don't think I can tolerate these teeners holding hands, hugging or even kissing. Since these teeners are just dating, and not really serious yet with each other to the point that they are already considering each other for marriage, they would somehow should refrain from getting involved physically and sexually.

Others may think that I am old-fashioned, but if I were to tolerate them, that already gives them a false go-signal that they can do anything they want- just because that it's 'okay' already with mom or dad. Well, I still believe in good values when it comes to boyfriend %26amp; girlfriend relationships. Teeners should be taught that any tolerance on their sexuality with the opposite sex (specifically in physical contact), can lead to a regret later on. That is one reason why many teenagers these days get pregnant and heart-brokened. Relationships at this point in their lives should be enjoyed more with fruitful friendships. I still truly believe in the supervision that we parents can give. And I think that it's never too late to impart your values to your own child. But of course, at this age, teenagers had pretty much developed their own set of beliefs- but they still need our advice on amny issues especially dating and sex.

As a parent, you can still do something to help forewarn your child on the disadvantages of teenage sex and early pregnancy. I think that you are concerned about your child but do stand up to your position and let your child know as soon as possible. Take some time with your teenager and talk things out like adults.
What they do when there is no supervision is irrelevant to what is permitted when you are there.

Holding hands, fine. Hugging - depends on the amount of body contact. Decorum should be the watch-word here. No kissing. When there is an engagement ring, then they can kiss in front of me.

Of course they'll kiss and perhaps even more when there are no eyes, but that doesn't mean you don't put on the brakes - hard - when you're around. Your job is to civilize children and let them know what YOU consider appropriate, not let them run rampant. They need leading around the pits of rampant hormones, not encouragement.
I have many friends and relatives who are or have children this age and many 16-18 yr old teens I know are sexually active. Those who feel comfortable enough to discuss it with me do so because they do not feel judged or vulnerable to humiliation. I make it a point to educate them about what it is they are risking if they have chosen or are about to choose to become sexually active- BECAUSE I know that they need to be when they make this decision. They tend to follow their hormones more often than not so the best we as adults and parents can do is educate them.

As for what's appropriate in your presence, I consider it disrespectful to see anything that I wouldn't do to my own mother. I set my boundaries there and will for my own children when they get that old. I intend to even ask if they cross that boundary- ';You wouldn't do that WITH me, so please don't do it IN FRONT OF me.'; I hope this helps.

    Anthony
Kids that age are probably going to be at least kissing. It's important for teenagers to know that relationships at that age don't usually become longterm, and that this is for the best. There is no reason for there to be any pressure from either party in a teenage relationship. If it's not fun anymore, just end it!
MY son who just turned 16 just got his first girlfriend a few months ago.The other day I pulled up at the park and his girlfriend was sitting on his lap he was looking around and noticed me all of a sudden I saw his girlfriend go flying(he threw her off his lap)she didnt get hurt he just got neves and puched her over but it was so funny.I dont think my son would be very comfortable kissing his girlfriend in front of me at all but,I know that he would hug her in front of me there is nothing wrong with that.
well i think they should make a video!!
I will tell you straight up mom! For teenagers being infront of there parents with a boy/girl friend they should only beable to give hugs, hold hand, peck kiss, and snuggle wiht each other. But probably when you are not around they are doing the same thing. Some of them maybe having sex at that age but if you think your daughter is then just put her on birth control pill because you cna't do anything about it.

The best way to decorate your room is to start out by clipping pics.of rooms that appeal to you from decorating magazines. Once you've collected a good amount of different pics, look for what elements in the pics have been repeated. For example, 5 out of 10 pics. had a red rug or white furniture or lavender walls.

The theme should be, in my opinion ,';the things you love';.After all, where else and at what other time in your life will you be able to decorate to suit only your own style? In the future, unless you plan to live alone, you'll have to compromise. So have it your way now and use the colors and styles that make you feel most comfortable.

  • What would be some pros and cons if teenagers watched what they ate?

So I'm writing a persuasive essay and I need to have 3 pros if teenagers were more health conscious about what they ate, like how it would benefit. I also need some cons as to why it might be a bad idea for teens to be more health concious. Can anyone help here? I'm having writers block...

    For pros I have:

    - teens will develop healthy eating habits

    - they will have less health problems when they are older

    For cons I have:

    - some teens may develop eating disorders if they become too obsessed

All ideas are appreciated, thank you! What would be some pros and cons if teenagers watched what they ate?

    -better complexion

    -have more energy
