Why do a lot of young adults and, teenagers like to put those big stupid looking exhaust pipes on smaller cars?

Such as; a honda accord, a smaller toyota, and etc.





Not only is it pointless and, looks stupid, but it really sounds stupid for a car with nothing greater than a six cylinder to sound like some souped up mo-ped.Why do a lot of young adults and, teenagers like to put those big stupid looking exhaust pipes on smaller cars?

On a honda or accura, yeah its stupid, unless they actually fixed it up. But, have you ever seen a Subaru WRX STI, or Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution? ridiculous wing and hood scoop, and yes the huge exhaust... all those things are for performance, the hood scoop on the STI cools the inner cooler for the turbo, the wing keeps the tires on the ground and high speeds and the exhaust adds another 20 to 40 (to the crank) horsepower, its not just for looks, it helps the car, and if you still think its stupid, go test drive one, you'll see. those little foreign 4 bangers are quick. my fiance has an STI, we've done quite a bit of work to it (exhaust, new twin scroll turbo, tuner, ect.) we run 11 sec quarter miles. The higher end Evolutions take on lambo's and kill corvettes. Dont be so quick to judge.

Would you think this car was a little 4 banger thats a muscle wanna be? well it is, the lotus has an i4 engine, and even the non-supercharged/turbo (elise is sc and the exige is turbo) version is fast and can kill almost anything on the road, it only weighs about a 1000 lbs, maybe even less.

Guilty as charged myself have added all sorts of mods to my moped to my cars over my 18 years of driving (but nothing over the top)and i still added a catback on my car now although its is a 6 cylinder.


I live on a main road and all day there are Ford's and opels/vaux running by with big exhaust.
makes them feel like richard petty. i think it's the same people that as kids put playing cards in the spokes of their bikes to make it sound mean. these people are muscle car want to b's. can't afford one so they will make it sound like one. I think these people put a big sausage in their pants when they go out on dates too.

The 2000watt stereo crowd couldn't hear the exhaust, so if you cant turn down the radio,only wussies don't listen at Vol 10, you have to make the exhaust louder.


Why do they listen so loud?


They're DEAF!
The huge muffler, like the big wing and ';ground defects'; as we call them, are all there for safety. They slow the car down so it will not be as dangerous.





You shouldn't make fun of people for wanting to be safe.

It matches the picnic table sized wing bolted to the trunk lid and the florescent colored wiper blades......
we call them fart cans..makes the exhaust sound louder so they feel like they have a real muscle car
