What do adults think of this generation of teenagers and young adults, and why?

I'm curious to know from a more experienced point of view, what you think of the younger population of America as a whole?

I remember my dad saying that he started working when he was six-years-old, and why can't we do that now? Is it because of the younger population, or has it just changed so much in the fifty or so years? What do adults think of this generation of teenagers and young adults, and why?
Im 30....so i grew up in the 80s and 90s...

things are alot different now...

alot of what foxyroxy said is true....no kid that i knew at age 12 had a tv in thier room....and now you do see kids as young as 6 having cell phones...

clothing is so much more different too... yes back in the 80s and 90s..there were music groups aimed at younger children ,preteens and such..but the stuff that came out as far as clothing was still pretty decent...the clothes now sometimes look like tinier versions of prostitute clothing.

but it also does have to do with how a child is raised these days too...What do adults think of this generation of teenagers and young adults, and why?
I personally feel a bit sorry for this generation, I grew up mostly in the 90's and it was so different from what I see now. They don't know what it is to be just a kid. Kids these days are forced to grow up at such an alarming rate. Everyone's oversexed and under dressed. I'm sorry but some of the things I see marketed at young folk, make Britney Spears dancing in a school girl outfit look like Sesame Street. This generation is also quite apathetic as a whole, they don't care about fighting for their fellow man. Everything is so superficial and materialistic, its disgusting. I didn't have a tv in my room until I was 12 and 6 year old;s have cell phones.Since they have so much, it makes them sheltered in weird ways, maybe the whole apathy thing stems from fear or something. Either way I'm fearful for our future as a nation.
That depends on the teenager, how they were brought up, their level of education and a bunch of other things..

And your dad did not start working at six, unless he had a little paper route or mowed lawns, because child labor laws do not allow children that young to work.
Wow! That's a very broad question asking for very general answers. You have teenagers from all walks of life. City, town, farm...rich, poor, religious, non-religious. All this kind of stuff comes into affect when considering the many answers one could give. It is impossible to provide an answer to such a broad question such as this.
im not an adult... but im a teen, and i grew up in the 90's and thank god for that... but the kids of today are pretty messed up..they are growing up too fast, and learning things they shouldn't learn, and growing up more more vicious
Because we have not fought in some pointless war (See: everything after the Civil War) we are clearly lazy and incompetent. (sarcasm)
