Work in a hospital or nursing home.
Go to the local chapter of Literacy Volunteers and help someone learn to read.
See if there is a soup kitchen in your area. It would be eye opening to see the people who are around who are just grateful to have a warm meal. Good luck with your service work.
Local animal shelter...the time will fly by there
